One of the best things about the holidays is the opportunity to treat others in your life to something they wouldn’t necessarily consider buying for themselves. Think “unnecessary necessities” or items that make every day activities or tasks just a little bit better or more luxurious. Treat them to a little splurge this season with luxury gifts under $50.
Holiday 2022: Luxury Gifts Under $50
We probably all have enough throw blankets, and scented candles (or scented anything, really) can be tough to purchase, unless you know the recipient’s taste very well. But there are lots of options that would delight nearly anyone on your gifting list, and won’t break the bank. As an added bonus, these gifts may work for the people who are challenging to shop for or that you don’t know super well. These luxury gifts from $13 to $50 are ideal for a white elephant or secret Santa gift too.
Here are some of our favorite little luxuries or “unnecessary necessities” that cost less than $50.

Silk and Terry Cloth Scrunchies
Silk scrunchies are a great way to tie back long hair and they won’t contribute to breakage and split ends, plus the designs have come a long way since the 1980s. Terry cloth scrunchies or wristbands are great for washing your face and doing skin, since they’ll prevent water and product from running down your arms and generally making a mess.
The World’s Tiniest Vacuum
This desktop vacuum is perfect for spot cleaning places that are hard to reach or difficult to wipe clean, like keyboards, inside of drawers, and various nooks and crannies. Plus, at $13 and a variety if colors you can get a few to gift (and maybe one or two to keep for yourself).
Bluetooth speakers that are waterproof are a luxury. Being able to listen to your favorite music, audio book, or podcast in the shower or tub – or anywhere else that you wish – is always fabulous. This little JBL speaker is one of Gear Patrol’s picks for best waterproof speakers and it hooks right onto the showerhead, making it super easy to set up.
If your recipient loves to cook or is just learning how to upgrade their basic meals, they might appreciate some interesting spice blends, sauces, or salts like the Momofuku Seasoned Salt variety pack (anything from David Chang’s Momofuku or Milk Bar might be appreciated, actually).
Audible or Patreon Subscriptions
Speaking of listening to podcasts or audio books, gifting subscriptions to Audible might be a great choice for people who regularly have long commutes or drives or otherwise enjoy hearing their literature rather than reading it. Same goes for Patreon subscriptions or podcast subscriptions if you know their favorite creators. Plus that way you are likely supporting a small business owner. They’ll love to listen to Lauren’s podcast, Beauty Is a Bitch.
A Chic Humidifier
Most of us can never get too much extra moisture for our skin and hair, especially in the winter. This makes humidifiers a necessity, but let’s face it, most of them are not particularly stylish. However, you can find plenty of options out there that are sleek, elegant, and even worthy of showing off, like this volcano humidifier that’s also a diffuser.
A Sunrise Alarm Clock
While we all use our phones for pretty much everything, you might find that you sleep better when your phone is nowhere near the bed. Give the gift of rest and help your recipients get a better night’s sleep with a sunrise alarm clock that wakes them up gently and naturally.
None of the above piquing your interest? We’re also fans of gifting subscriptions to streaming services (this is also a good way to hint to your relatives to stop borrowing your Netflix or Hulu and screwing up your watch list). Or give them any sort of extra phone battery or power pack, or fancy consumables like premium coffee or tea.
