Yes, it’s a lot harder but it is possible to lose weight in midlife. I can attest. I have completed 4 months of personal trainer and nutrition coach, Kim Schlag’s “Menopause Weight Loss Course” and have lost 11 pounds and 12 inches. More importantly, I have never felt better. This is my way of life now, and I am not stopping just because I have reached my goal. Knowing what I know now about how I lost weight in midlife, I can never go back.
How I Lost Weight In Midlife
Nobody was more surprised this old dog could learn new tricks because I thought I knew everything about weight loss and diet culture. After all I am a pro. I have been gaining and losing the same 10-15 pounds most of my life. Yet, in midlife I found my old tricks were no longer working for me and my stomach was getting thicker (belly fat) if I even looked at a cookie…or so it seemed.
Join me as I flip the script and am interviewed by Kim about my journey and light bulb moments on my podcast Beauty is a Bitch in S3 E6 How I Lost Weight In Midlife With Fitness Trainer Kim Schlag.
A Few Things I Have Learned
- Losing .5-1 pound a week is more realistic and sustainable in midlife. Losing 2-4 pounds of weight is a fool’s dream.
- You need to eat a lot more protein in midlife. I’m talking more than you ever imagined. Most of us are eating about 1/4 of what we should be eating.
- You need to start weight training in order to burn fat, gain muscle and keep your bones strong. Cardio alone just isn’t going to cut it.
- You don’t have to deprive yourself of anything you just need to plan around it. I have never once felt deprived on this plan.
There is so much more, but you will just have to listen!
