5 Celebrities Show Off Their Haute Couture Style In Sicily and Paris

If you thought the Met Gala or the CFDA Awards were a big deal in the fashion world, well, you’re not wrong. But two times a year, the biggest names in fashion gather in Paris (and this season, Sicily) to pull out all the stops for their most extravagant looks. These are the ones that take hours upon hours to create with precision and detail and bold extravagant color for the red carpet and the biggest events in the world. And the celebrities were there in haute couture style.

This year, for the Fall/Winter 2022-2023 couture collections, celebrities like Anne Hathaway, Kim Kardashian, Nicole Kidman, Lupita N’yongo and many more flocked to take in the delightful hot pink at Valentino, the slinky Balenciaga, and the impressive Olivier Rousteing in a guest collection for Jean Paul Gaultier. Then, of course, there was the finale that topped it all  – Dolce & Gabbana’s Alta Moda show in Sicily where they celebrated 10 years of astonishing work.

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana may have only started their Alta Moda collection back in 2012, but the designs are already legendary. This season, bold color, veils, Sicilian motifs and much more took over the runway and the celebs that attended the days of festivities did not disappoint. Taking in the shows (and wearing incredible color and richness to boot) were the likes of Kris Jenner, Sharon Stone, Helen Mirren, Drew Barrymore, Mariah Carey, Ciara, Emma Roberts, Ellen Pompeo, Lucy Hale, Lupita N’yongo, Heidi Klum, and more.

Helen Mirrend Haute Couture 2023

Helen Mirren may have just celebrated her 76th birthday, but every 30, 40, and 50-year-old should be envious of this kind of fashion royalty. Helen is always careful about her fashion choices. Sometimes she goes bold, but she does it within reason. Her fashion colors, textures, silhouettes and styles are always calculated without ever going overboard, even when she does go, well, overboard.

She is certainly an Italian queen in this Dolce & Gabbana look, but it’s everything. The extravagant color, the oversize cap sleeves, the train, and even the sleek appearance of a pulled back do. She is certainly something else, dripping in refinery, and we should all take a lesson from this gorgeous creature.

Here’s the thing about Sharon Stone. She oozes sex appeal and style in one look. You’ve seen her in the drop-dead gorgeous gowns at Cannes and here she knows she can be uber-stylish and still take a risk. I didn’t expect to see her in satin pants, no matter how beautiful that gold corset top is. But she makes it work with a cape hanging off her hips decorated with a gorgeous Dolce & Gabbana signature floral motif.

DuaLipa at Balenciaga Hought Couture 2023

DuaLipa at Balenciaga

DuaLipa, just 26 years old, wore a look that anyone could pull off, when she attended the Balenciaga dinner during haute couture fashion week, just after appearing in the design label’s show. The amazing thing about this look is that it is both effortless and dressy at the very same time. The sequined ball gown bottom is the centerpiece of the look, but even up top, where she perks up an otherwise basic black tank with big silver jewelry and a bold handbag, she looks like she knows exactly what she’s doing.

Keira Knightley black Chanel dress

Keira Knightley is known for her Chanel looks and she never disappoints. Accustomed to seeing her in embroidered pastel looks, this dress was a nice change of pace and still very much signature Chanel. The little black dress has gorgeous lace detailing, great velvet texture, and a statement bow at the neckline that totally wins me over. As do those two-tone Chanel shoes, which have come an incredible statement of the brand.

Kate Beckinsale at Elie Saab Haute Couture 2023

With sculpted shoulders and matchy-matchy purple from top to bottom – this is a great look for Kate Beckinsale. A gorgeous woman but her fashion looks are always a hit and a miss, but not this time. There’s something about the high shoulders and the seashell textures of the dress, the way it corkscrews every which way and even the way it hugs her in all the right places but still gives off an architectural air that makes it amazing. Frilly and fun, and sure, a twentysomething could wear this, but so could a 50-year old and Kate Beckinsale, 49, proves that while older and wiser, she also looks better than ever.

  1. I love the fact that there are women “our age” modeling these clothes (although I don’t want to think about what they have to do to stay at that weight!)
