With all the celebrities who had decided not to show at the Grammys this year, I was wondering if the Grammy Awards 2019 fashion would actually make an impact. It did, of course, but in the way that you think. Usually it’s wayyyy too crazy, to the point where we don’t even like to feature it on the blog because it’s too much and just bad.
This year, though, I was pleasantly surprised. Gone were most of the abhorrent fashion, replaced by beautiful gowns and pantsuits and some standouts that were over-the-top but still smartly done (perhaps because they were mainly Balmain creations or had architectural feels that really played to the eye). Take a look:

Super Statements
You may or may not know Kacey Musgraves, the country singer who won
Best Album of the Year, Best Country Album and Best Country Song at the Grammys. But regardless of what you know about her, she had one of the best looks of the night — romantic, risk-taking for the Grammys, and ultimately totally elegant.

One of the most talked-about musicians of the night, also because she was the first solo woman to win in the Best Rap Album category, Cardi B channeled her inner-Rihanna/Lady Gaga by showing up in a vintage Mugler couture ensemble from 1995, featuring a bodysuit and shell-inspired black skirt. I wonder how she walked in that thing…
There’s always a place for what the Red Carpet Fashion Awards call a “tulle explosion” at the Grammy Awards. Bebe Rexha brought it.
Cupcakes in human form never looked sweeter.
No, I’m not into putting Kylie Jenner on a blog for thirty and fortysomethings, but I must pay some respect to this incredible sculpted creation by Balmain.
Metallics
I hate to ask this but…did Lady Gaga have some work done? I think this is the best I’ve ever seen her look. It could just be her makeup and that gorgeous dress, but something seems different about her face.
WTF Were They Thinking?
But of course, there are always the celebs that make you remember why the Grammys are never the epitome of fashion finesse.

I skipped the Grammys and went to a movie instead and then forgot to DVD it. Dua Lipa wins my vote in the photos above.
That makes total sense!
