I recently attended the CEW Beauty Bazaar in NYC. It’s essentially an opportunity to see all of the finalists of their annual Beauty Awards. Towards the end of the event, I found myself at the Nordstrom Beauty booth and got to chatting with the woman manning it. The event was winding down, so we really got talking. She asked me what my favorite beauty products were at Nordstrom and then what I would buy if I had a $500 gift card. Turns out she is a beauty buyer for Nordstrom! She didn’t give me a gift card (bummer) but she did give me a great post idea. What beauty would I buy if I had a $500 gift card from Nordstrom?
What Would I Buy With $500 at Nordstrom Beauty
Truth be told I would suggest buying a Dyson AirWrap and pay the $99 differential but that doesn’t help for my post. If you have been thinking about splurging on one, do! It’s life-changing. But I digress. With $500 I would totally splurge on a few expensive beauty items that I might not pony up my cash for, but mostly buy my tried-and-true favorites.
Here is what I would buy with a $500 Gift Card for Beauty at Nordstrom.

Foundation sticks are generally not my bag, but I like to keep one in my makeup bag, just in case. I use it as a concealer and a foundation. Unlike most stick foundations which are heavy, this one has a light-to-medium coverage. The creamy formula melts into skin and contains nourishing skincare ingredients like squalane and oils. You will love it.
This is my favorite brow pencil because it goes on beautifully and has a gel wand at the other end so your brows stay put all day!
I’m obsessed with this shower oil that transforms into a lavish, softening foam. The formula is rich in almond oil and nourishing lipids and the fragrance is incredible. It’s like an oil sand soap had a baby. Your skin will be silky smooth but you won’t have to fear slipping in the shower.
I have been wanting to try this long-wear matte, liquid blush which everyone is raving about. It’s supposed to blend beautifully with other makeup for a fresh pop of color. And it comes in 4 shades, but I’d get Pillow Talk as it looks to be flattering for almost any skintone.
This is the Mac Daddy of concealers for many years running and for good reason. It’s a brightening concealer pen that instantly smooths and perfects your complexion, highlighting your best features with a natural, luminous finish and covering the things you want covered like dark spots. It’s truly brilliant.
Normally the thought of a setting spray kinda skeeves me out. I feel like I am spraying dirt over my makeup or that my skin won’t be able to breathe. But not with this brilliant setting spray. It legit helps set makeup for up to 16 hours without melting, fading or settling into fine lines. Film former polymers form a strong but flexible, breathable film across the skin to keep makeup in place. It contains Japanese green tea which is an anti-oxidant that preserves the natural moisture barrier for softer, hydrated skin, while aromatic resin blurs the appearance of pores. Your skin will look flawless…even after you leave the house.
NuFACE MINI+ Starter Kit, $309 Value, $250
If you have been following me for a while and/or listen to my podcast Beauty is a Bitch you will know I LOVE my nuFACE microcurrent device. This skin care regimen smooths, lifts and contours the face for a brilliant, youthful complexion in just 5 minutes a day. It really works! And this set comes with the Aqua Gel Activator and the Silk Crème Activator which both leave your skin super soft. I alternate between the two every night. I couldn’t love it more.
OK, so I went slightly over. But by less than a cup of Starbuck’s coffee. Besides, isn’t that the whole point of a gift card?
