A Look at The Fashion of 5 Celebrity Mothers and Daughters

Fashion is all in the family. Most celebs like to keep their children’s lives private, but there are the sons and daughters that follow in their parents’ footsteps into the entertainment biz. And yes, while that means acting, singing and modeling, it also means fashion. Let’s take a look at the fashion of some of our favorite celebrity mothers and daughters.

Style Celebrity Mothers and Daughters

Who are the fashion-forward kids of the future, and did they get it from their momma? I can think of a few: Lourdes Leon, Maude Apatow, Lila Moss, and even Kendall Jenner and North West. 

We can do without the matching outfits. But still, more so than ever the stylish looks from the offspring, it’s the parents, in their 40s, 50s, and 60s, who still do it for me. They continue to stay chic while competing with their kids for the best looks in the fashion department.

 

Cindy Crawford and Kaia Gerber

The Gerbers (Rande, Presley, Kaia and Cindy) are one good-looking family. And yet, 21-year-old Kaia Gerber seemed to burst onto the scene (and into the modeling world) by surprise. Sure, she secured her first modeling gig at age 10 with Versace and became the face of a Miu Miu eyewear campaign at 14. But for some reason, I didn’t think she would follow in the footsteps of her supermodel mom. But of course, she did. 

She debuted at Fashion Week in 2017 and since then has been setting trends on and off the runway, just like her mother did back in the 90s. Remember Cindy’s tailored jackets and voluminous hair? Today, for Kaia, it’s wide-leg pants and miniature sunglasses. I’m guessing Kaia didn’t have it hard but she has certainly proven herself and become a force to be reckoned with. 

Today, Cindy Crawford is a youthful 56 years old and looks as amazing as ever in leather jackets, blazers and boho. And yes, there are moments (like the one above) where she likes to go high fashion and still looks good doing it. 

Diana Ross and Tracee Ellis Ross 

It goes without saying that since the 60s, in glittering gowns and fierce heels, Diana Ross has always been a fashion icon. Whether it’s a long-sleeved silk gown or a turtleneck sweater, she always dresses to impress. Now in her 70s, she’s still rocking an enviable, albeit age-appropriate, style and it’s her daughter Tracee Ellis Ross who is taking over in the fashion department. But we’re sure Tracee has asked her mother for some tips on how to wear those showstopping vintage looks and has probably even borrowed a few pieces. I know I would. 

Lisa Bonet and Zoe Kravitz

Lisa Bonet and her daughter Zoe Kravitz are the ultimate chic mother-daughter duo and they’ve twinned a number of times. While Zoe has her own standalone fashion moments, she has certainly taken from Lisa’s effortless bohemian style and mixed in some modern elements, including sparkle and a lot of black. 

Lisa has always been, as L’Officiel puts it, eclectic, and she continues to remain steadfast in her fashion, rocking feathers, big hats and funky prints. She is a style inspiration to all, but especially to her daughter. 

Lea Thompson and Zoey Deutch

I do have to say that it’s hard to top Zoey Deutch‘s style. She is so striking and, I’ve said it before, she takes risks and looks so good doing it. I’ve yet to know where she got it from. Her mother, Lea Thompson, is known for her acting ability, but not necessarily her fashion sense. 

But she still has it. Recently, Lea wore an amazing hot pink blazer and trouser set when she appeared on The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon. She was alongside 80s stars Ralph Macchio and Jennifer Beals (who surprisingly also wore hot pink). Is hot pink the newest trending color for next season? According to Valentino it is. But it certainly looks incredible on Lea. 

Brielle Biermann and Kim Zolciak Biermann 

Now before you roll your eyes over this last choice, hear me out. I don’t think Kim Zolciak Biermann and her 25-year-old daughter Brielle have the best fashion sense in the world, or really at all. What I do want to give them props for is being unapologetic about what they wear. This is their style, this is what they like (more so Kim than her daughter) and therefore this is what they choose for themselves.

Sometimes the color is off, sometimes it’s a little too tight, and sometimes it’s showing a little too much skin. But at the end of the day, fashion is about expressing yourself and showcasing your personality and what you like. In this case, Kim and her daughter Brielle check every box.
