Since I’m an open book and reporting on anti-aging products is my thing…I freely admit I have had Botox (ahem) a few times (wink, wink). However, I am always certain to tell the doctor administrating it, I don’t want to look frozen. I have a a very expressive face and if I can’t move it, it will not go unnoticed. I want to remain myself, I just don’t want to see all those damn lines on my forehead. So when I heard about Dysport® (abobotulinumtoxinA) which is a similar injectable to Botox, I was intrigued. Why? It’s a prescription for temporary improvement in the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adults less than 65 years of age – and you can still move your face!
In survey commissioned by Galderma (the makers of Dysport), it was revealed that 74% of American women and men ages 30-50 would be more interested in treatment if results looked natural, not frozen. Frown lines between the eyebrows can male you look angry, old and stressed. Who wants that? Filters can only do so much and when your friends actually see you in person you don’t want them to know you are BFFs with your filter app.
“More than ever before, women and men are experiencing ‘breakthrough moments’ that create a desire to treat their frown lines between the eyebrows,” said Alisa Lask, Vice President, U.S. Marketing, Galderma Aesthetic & Corrective. “But people aren’t talking about it openly, so they don’t have the opportunity to learn about all their options for treating frown lines, including Dysport®, which is a great choice for many people interested in looking their best, with natural-looking results.”

Like Botox, Dysport is a botulinum toxin, but it does not freeze the face. So if you want a more natural look than a face dipped in ice, but those lines are just dragging you down, Dysport might just be your ticket! You can take charge of your frown lines by simply asking your doctor for Dysport.
As I said, I have now tried both and more recently I had Dysport administered by Dr. Marina I. Peredo, who is one of the most highly rated dermatologists in NYC (check out my interview with Dr. Peredo urging us NOT to buy deals on Groupon). I was not sure I would like Dysport because the one time I had it before it didn’t last very long. However, she assured me that if administered properly it should last 4-6 months (just like Botox).
I have to admit I am very happy with the results as I’m still me and nobody would look at me and think I’m looking like Nicole Kidman! It’s been nearly two months and I’m still very happy with my results.
