Sure we all love summer whites, but isn’t it easier to wear all black, especially when you live or work in the city? To summer-ize my often all black wardrobe, I like to add a few surprise bursts of bright color. My black M Missoni tank has a multicolor kaleidoscope print on the back and my bright blue clutch bag becomes the center of attention when worn with all black. Try this all black M Missoni Zigzag Tank, $245 for a similar look, or you may opt to go all out with color with this M Missoni Sleeveless Vertical-Striped Top, now $247. My basic black flare leg jeans are by True Religion and you may like their Runway Flare Leggings, now $99. You can still get away with a simple tank top and jeans when you’re over 40. Make sure the tank is not too tight and the jeans fit you right and don’t give you muffin top. When it comes to fit I always recommend to go up a size when in doubt.

Add a bright colored clutch like this Neiman Marcus Saffiano Leather Travel Clutch Bag in Turquoise, now only $32! I live in this link bracelet by Lele Sadoughi and her Sandbar Bracelet, $385 is similar.
My wooden platform sandals by Tabitha Simmons make me look taller and work with my 70s inspired flare jeans. I topped off the look with a pair of tortoise frame shades like these Ray-Ban’s, now $131.24.
Even with these added textures in my accessories and the bright shots of color, the overall look is still black-on-black. And just like like Johnny Cash (and lots of city folk) I like to keep it that way… even in the summer!
