Celebrity Style: Holiday Party Dresses For Every Occasion

Nothing says holiday season like the perfect holiday dress. I’m not just referring to an LBD, although truth be told, the right LBD can work wonders for any fashionista. I’m talking the bold-colored, sequined, brocaded, beaded, embellished, bedazzled holiday party dresses worn by celebs and party-goers alike to a festive dinner party or a night on the town celebrating the season – think Meghan Markle in People’s 12 Meghan Markle-Inspired Holiday Party Dresses (For Less!) That Will Steal The Show.

Here’s the kicker, though. While I too love a good embellished dress, there’s something to be said for toning it down, keeping it high style, and still looking glamorous. These four celebs, while not bedazzled, bejeweled, or bewildered (haha) make incredible, bold fashion statements of their own without looking overdone. This is how you want to dress this holiday season.

Diane Kruger – Jason Wu

This actress has had her share of fierce fashion looks, including stunning prints and tough leather jackets. Here, though, she trades in her disco-style Versace mini-dresses and loud matchy Miu Miu pantsuits for a cool velvet dress with her name on it LITERALLY (it’s called the Jason Wu Grey x Diane Kruger Velvet Shirt Dress) topped with a white satin trimmed belt. I literally think Diane Kruger could wear a potato sack and still look utterly fashion forward, but velvet is certainly a quiet, but bold way to do it.

Nina Agdal – Etro

In the past, Etro was known for its bold tribal prints but things have certainly changed for the Italian fashion house, at least it looks that way based on what model Nina Agdal is wearing for her outing. That occasion is the 2017 NYBG Winter Wonderland Gala and Agdal has chosen an Etro Spring 2018 look – a white printed, lace embroidered maxi dress with a lower neckline, a belted waist, and sleeves that feature flare cuffs and other details.

Sarah Paulson – Calvin Klein

Nothing says fashion forward beauty quite like Sarah Paulson in this high-neck mustard yellow dress with blue along the neckline sides and skirt. The blue detailing is divine as is the way Paulson parades in the number (not everyone could pull it off the way she does.) Maybe we can’t have designers at Calvin Klein custom make our next dress, as they do for Paulson, but we can take a cue from the statement-making stylista and try something different and risky, but not over-the-top, for a dressy holiday party.

Victoria Beckham – Victoria Beckham

Once known for wearing wide leg pants and lots of black and white, this designer has changed her style along with the style of her eponymous self-branded line. It calls for a bold color without giving up the classy, streamlined looks she is known for her. Seen at a British Vogue bash, the starlet wears a silk red dress with interesting collar (I even think the front looks like a trench coat with a plunging neckline) and green stilettos. The dress may be from Beckham’s own Spring 2018 collection but it’s as Christmas-y as I’ve ever seen her.
