American Apparel has launched a search for “The Next Big Thing,” i.e. the newest search for the next plus-size model.Ummm, what? You mean all those skinny, half-naked models aren’t the key demographics for Mr. Dov Charney?! Read a little sample from what their website:

We’re looking for fresh faces (and curvaceous bods) to fill these babies out. If you think you’ve got what it takes to be the next XLent model, send us photos of you and your junk to back it up.

Wow. It took *that* long to get XL sizes? The XL size at American Apparel is equivalent to a 12-14. Good job, American Apparel. I guess this is the last ditch attempt to dig yourself out of bankruptcy by catering to the average American woman size. Shouldn’t you have been doing that earlier?
