The holiday season is upon us and Thanksgiving is just around the corner! Thanksgiving marks the beginning of an exciting yet exasperating time. Soon you will be seeing tons of people, your family and friends, and they will be seeing you too! So what should you wear? There are many options for different types of Thanksgiving events and the role you may play. For example are you hosting, or just a guest? Is it casual or formal, or something in between? Well here are 5 outstanding outfits to wear for Thanksgiving this year.
One thing they all have in common is they are forgiving. We know you want to be comfortable (so you can eat) and wear something that will flatter you (so you can feel confident and not crabby) on this kickoff day of the season!
5 Outfits to Wear For Thanksgiving
The Hostess On The Move
You may be hosting the big meal, and if you are the chef as well, you need to wear something that will be easy to wear but still look wonderful as you are running around from pan to pan and guest to guest. Hostess heat is taken into consideration with this look (those ovens can get hot!). Bell sleeves are not recommended and wash and wear is strongly encouraged!
This Ann Taylor Ruched Short Sleeve Top, $59.50 is perfect with its short sleeves that won’t get in your way of serving guests. It’s machine washable, as are these Ann Taylor The Ankle Pant In Dobby, $109. Slip on a pair of interesting flats like these Vince Damris Loafers, $295 and you’ll look fantastic no matter how many times you run in and out of the kitchen.
The Best Guest
So maybe you get to relax this year because someone has invited you to their house. You still want to be able to pitch in with helping the hostess and compliment her by dressing up a bit (and by bringing your appetite). Here’s a super cute and comfy outfit that won’t break the bank.
If you don’t already own them, a pair of leather leggings dress up any casual look. These BCBGMAXAZRIA Andrei Faux-Leather Leggings, $148 are a great price (compared to over $900 for real leather) and have flattering seam details. Top it off with a bargain of a sweater like this H&M Knit Turtleneck Sweater, $34.99 and slide on a pair of cool Sam Edleman Walden Genuine Calf Hair Booties, $169.95.
A Fine Dining Event
Perhaps your family gets dressed up or goes out to a restaurant on Thanksgiving. A stretchy wrap dress with side ruching comes to the rescue! This is a great option when you are a bit unsure of how formal the dinner will be and will hide a stuffing filled belly. This classic evening look fits in with everything from black tie to blue jeans.
This Eliza J Velvet Sheath Dress, $118 comes in hunter green, navy, maroon and rose and in regular & petite and plus sizes too. The 3/4 sleeves and side ruching has you covered! Wear it with a comfortable block heel pump like these 1.State Sisteen Half d’Orsay Pumps, $89.95 and dress it up with this wonderful Baublebar Kew Collar, $68.
The Super Casual Thanksgiving
You may hold or attend a Thanksgiving dinner with group that doesn’t fuss one bit. It’s a huge pot luck with a grab-and-go buffet and wide screen TVs set up for football games. I mean, If you wore your pajamas and slippers to this party, no one would blink an eye. However, it’s still a holiday so you should still look your best! Only now you can get away with wearing those super cool comfy jeans.
Slip on a pair of slouchy jeans like these Madewell The High-Rise Slim Boyjean in Frisco Wash, now $59.99. Top it off with a loose and easy blouse like this ASOS Vila Floral Wrap Blouse, $56 and since you’re just lounging around you can go with a higher heel like these Sam Edelman Heath Booties, $189.95.
It’s Party Time!
Some Thanksgiving Day events are more like a fun cocktail party and you can kick off the season in something glittery and sparkly. Even if the party is casual, you can always celebrate the start of the Holidays with a shimmery party look, and repurpose it for another party coming up in the weeks ahead.
This gorgeous Ramy Brook Tonya Top, $345 is easy to wear with its peplum styling. Wear the top with highwaisted black pants or flattering stretchy jeans like these NYDJ Marilyn Curves 360 Straight Leg Jeans, $109. You can wear heels with this look but these ASOS Design Latch sequin pointed ballet flats, $26 add a big festive feel for a very small price.
