Stars Don Stunning Fashion On The Oscars 2021 Red Carpet

It was marvelous to see celebs and film stars actually back on a red carpet at the 93rd annual Academy Awards. The Oscars 2021 fashion was unique, bold, and very modern!

At the awards ceremony, there were some special moments this year. While sadly, the late Chadwick Boseman did not receive a Best Actor award for his role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, actor Anthony Hopkins, 83, went on to be the oldest man to ever win a Best Actor Oscar award. There were some – ahem – questionable acceptance speeches. Just ask Best Supporting Actor winner Daniel Kaluuya and Best Supporting Actress winner Youn Yuh-jung, who joked about presenter Brad Pitt finally noticing her as she accepted her award.

Chloe Zhao becomes only the second woman in 93 years to win an Oscar for Best Director and the first Asian woman. And Compton’s Travon Free, director of the Best Live-Action Short Film winner Two Distant Strangers, made history as the first black filmmaker to win the category.

 On The Red Carpet

Then there was the fashion! Sure, Old Hollywood glam made its appearance, but there was always a twist. Amanda Seyfried stunned in bold red Armani Prive, with a plunging neckline and a unique contemporary texture to the dress that is unlike anything I’ve seen before. Many stars, including Carey Mulligan and Zendaya, stunned in unique gowns with midriff showing. More on that later.

Here are the best of the best looks at this year’s Oscars:

Perhaps someone else would have thought that the sleeves were a bit much, but I’m always a sucker for poofy shoulders. I thought Angela Bassett looked stunning.

Many said this gown on Amanda Seyfried was the best look of the night!

The thistle embroidered appliqués are what stand out for me on this beautiful white gown worn by Viola Davis.

Maria Bakalova white Louis Vuitton gown oscars fountainof30

Online or on the red carpet, Maria Bakalova has been BRINGING IT his awards season – looking exquisite every single time. OK, so I wasn’t in love with the strange floral plaid Dior dress at the SAGs but I know this actress is going to be one fashionista to watch.

Another, completely different, Louis Vuitton dress on the red carpet. It wasn’t something I expected from Regina King, but I liked it – the color and the winged sleeves were lovely.

Margot Robbie Oscars 2021 fashion fountainof30

I would love to see Margot Robbie in something other than Chanel, but alas, she does look lovely.

I thought the color looked gorgeous on her, and we all know Vivienne Westwood knows her silhouettes.

Midriff Fashion On The Oscars 2021 Red Carpet

Yes, a strange new trend has come to this red carpet. It’s a modern look – something you probably wouldn’t have seen back 20 years ago but is it the future of the Oscars? Two of the stars who wore it were clad in Valentino, so maybe it’s a Valentino thing? But alas, it surprised a lot of people.

Bikini top, midriff cutout, stomach cutout – or whatever you want to call it, I’m not sure how long this look will last, but it’s definitely a trend.

The Worst Oscars 2021 Fashion

Laura Dern Oscars 2021 fashion fountainof30

I actually don’t think the look is that bad, but not sure a lot of people would agree with me, since Laura Dern’s feather skirt was compared to Bjork’s swan dress from 2001. So I’ll just leave this here.

Halle Berry Oscars 2021 fashion fountainof30

I thought the dress was perfectly fine, but that too-short bob and unflattering no-makeup look. Yes, it definitely spoiled Halle Berry for me tonight.

I like that it’s different and risky, but you can do better Reese Witherspoon

Love the color, but this ain’t the Grammys. Am I wrong? What do you think?
