Hot Shoe Trend For Fall: The David Bowie Bootie

There’s a brand new dance, but I don’t know its name
That people from bad homes, do again and again
It’s big and it’s bland, full of tension and fear
They do it over there but we don’t do it here
Fashion! Turn to the left
Fashion! Turn to the right
Oooh, fashion!

– David Bowie, Fashion

Oh how I miss David Bowie! I am still crushed he is gone from this earth. But in a beautiful tribute to the late great musical genius, his 70’s style over-the-top boots are actually on trend for Fall ’16. Now I know most of our readers think we might be insane for suggesting this trend, but hear us out. I normally eschew crazy boots. Just ask Carol who has a few pairs I abhor (especially her Cavalli ones) and have teased her mercilessly. However, this fall I say, wear them with passion! I actually want a pair of brocade, floral or glitter boots myself. I recognize I will only wear them one season, but I am digging their boldness and chunky heel.

YES! I LOOK FORWARD TO #GROWINGYOUNGER

Here is the key to pulling off a very loud pair of booties when you are over 35… keep the rest of your outfit simple. I mean really simple. Think a white menswear shirt, jeans, a simple jacket, low key-handbag (preferably black) and minimal jewelry. The boots are all the statement you need to turn heads. In a good way. If you don’t like to draw attention to yourself, you may want to sit this one out…and that’s OK. As for me, I will wear them for David Bowie.

Here are some over-the-top booties to inspire (or repulse) you!

Make your own uneven hem cropped jeans to wear with these boots. Read and watch Carol’s video: Do You Own The Latest Trend In Jeans? You Can Make Them Yourself!
