Best Ways to Wear Fringe And Faux Fur Trends For Women Over 50

The holiday season generally means lots of get-togethers and gatherings. This year feels particularly festive as more and more people are going out than in the past few years to partake in holiday parties. No matter what holiday you celebrate or how you choose to do it, it’s always exciting to get out your quintessential winter pieces! With all of the new trends out there now, I’m surprised that these two have held their own and are still here and ready for holiday celebrations. Let’s look at options in fringe and faux fur to wear for your holiday festivities that are perfect if you are over 50.

Fringe And Faux Fur For An Evening Out

If you are planning an evening out like an office party, dinner or even a house party at a friend’s, I’ve found some fun pieces you can try. For starters, I love this faux fur trim ribbed sweater. This is a classic cardigan sweater style that features fur on the cuffs and collar. The ivory color (or winter white) is seasonally appropriate and sophisticated. You can pair this with faux leather joggers to give it edge or high-rise trousers and some pumps to keep it classic.

Fringe Party Dresses

My next pick is perfect for a friend’s party or holiday cocktail night out. This cable knit fringe mini dress is super sexy and on-trend. I adore the color and fringe on the sleeves is subtle but still a really chic detail. This dress is also practical because the cable knit fabric will be  warm. This dress works perfectly with a pair of tall boots in a rich brown color, which always looks good with this shade of green. You can also wear it with tights or tunic-style with faux leather leggings for a more covered up look.

Fringe Knits and Separates

If you want to keep with the fringe trend and prefer separates, you can go for this fringe V-neck sweater. The tan color will match with almost any bottom you choose. You can even go super colorful and choose a pair of pink or red pants. The fringe is pronounced and attention-grabbing plus it’s got a cool 1980s vibe. It’s a winning piece if you want to splurge a little bit on the fringe trend and a fabulous option to try if you are over 50.

Fringe Earrings

If you are only willing to dabble in accessories for this trend, we’ve got you covered. I found these Deepa by Deepa Gurnani Jody Earrings that feature fringe. They are such fun pair of earrings and can pair well with anything from a cocktail dress to jeans and a cozy holiday sweater. These would also make a great gift for the fashion lover in your life. They are incredibly on trend and will be a gift that will always be remembered.

Fringe And Faux Fur For A Casual Night In

Whether you are hosting at your home or cozying up to a book or movie by yourself or with a loved one, you can still rock this trend without leaving your house. I found these beautiful, neutral color faux fur mules that would be perfect and comfortable to wear if you are having a gathering at your house but want your feet to stay comfy and warm. They come in black, but I absolutely adore the cream color. They would look amazing with jeans, lounge pants or pretty much anything. I think regardless of whether you’ll stay in or go out, these mules are worth picking up.

Fur Trimmed Lounge Sets

If you are truly a homebody and prefer the company of yourself, this trend still may be right for you. There have been days where I don’t want to change out of my PJs. If you have days like that but still want to feel and look good, I suggest this fur trim two-piece lounge set. It’s basically pajamas, but with the fun fur trim feature you feel just a little more luxurious. This pair comes in a wide variety of colors to choose from and the price point is under $50.

Fringe And Faux Fur Styling Tips

  1. Keep the faux fur and fringe to a minimum. I love this trend, but there is such a thing as too much. For the ladies over 50, I’d keep this trend focused to one piece: on your sweater or featured on a pair of pants, even your shoes or accessories. Having multiple pieces with fringe or fur on an outfit can be too overpowering.
  2. Mid-tier pricing is the best option. This trend can come off looking really cheap if you go too inexpensive, so look for something that is made well and pricing somewhere in the middle of the road. If you go too inexpensive, your piece can look chintzy, but you also don’t want to go too overboard and splurge because this will likely not be a staple piece in your closet. You may wear it a few times a year, so you don’t want such an expensive piece just sitting in your closet without any love.
  3. Keep it neutral. For women over 50, it’s best to purchase this trend in neutral colors to keep it looking chic and elevated. I love a bright pink or yellow piece any day. But for fringe and fur, it’s best to leave the super saturated colors to the younger set. Keep it classic with cream, black, tan or gray.
