Fall 2021 Fashion Trends
1. Soft Coats
Everyone likes a little comfort, and these soft coats and jackets are supersized! From slick leather-like puffers at Stand, to a hot pink puffer resembling a duvet cover (complete with your own neck roll) at Balmain to a soft sherpa-like print coat Louis Vuitton, the soft coat trend is no sleeper for fall 2021.
2. Sweater Vests
These sweater vests don’t resemble your old school uniforms, thankfully. Instead they are a nice added layer to add shape, style and warmth and pull your look together. From a cap sleeve black vest over a retro patterned blouse and pants at Anna Sui, a tunic-like sweater vest at Bevza in a bright marigold, to an asymmetrical, slightly deconstructed modern color-blocked version at 3.1 Phillip Lim, designers showcased a wide variety of knitted vests.
3. Amazing Lace
Almost every season, lace comes into play, but the lace pieces for Fall 2021 are absolutely amazing. From a stunning belted lace overlay dress at Gabriella Hearst to more modern approach at Akris, known for their laser cutting, with an unexpected lacy long winter white skirt under a quilted oversized hunter jacket. And the lace on this Ellie Saab dress with a matching jacket is jaw-dropping.
4. Quilt It!
There was a wide variety of quilted numbers in the collections for Fall 2021. Yigal Azrouel’s casual short olive jacket has an unconventional curvy quilted pattern, Jason Wu’s long navy quilted coat comes with a nice sheen along with a built in scarf. And when we think “quilted” Chanel always comes to mind, but even this fashion house did a little spin on their usual diamond pattern with the horizontal quilted trim on this black and green color blocked coat.
5. Leopard Print Coats
Hang onto your leopard coats because this animal print favorite was on many a runway for Fall 2021. Who needs a basic black coat when you can liven things up with an equally neutral leopard print? From an ankle-length and black-leather-belted coat at Etro, and a car coat over as full skirt at Christian Dior to a high neck fitted wrapped version at Rokh, there is a leopard print coat style for everyone for fall.
6. Head-To-Toe Denim
Here is a new way to dress in denim for fall 2021. Designers showed head-to-toe denim in classic blue shades that give you a pulled-together yet casual look. From a conservative blue denim fitted jacket and matching pants at Hermes to casual denim jumpsuits at Alberta Ferretti and Victoria Beckham, all denim looks or denim worn as a base under a jacket can be your new uniform. Yes, the denim tuxedo is in!
7. Bold Colored Leather
There will always be a place in our hearts for black leather but it is so refreshing to see gorgeous bright colored leather or “leather look” pieces for Fall 2021. Bold hues in leather could not be unnoticed from a bright lilac midi trench at Staud, to a hot red dress at Isabel Marant, to a full jacket and pant suit in burnt orange patent leather at Stand. Take your pick!
8. On The Fringe
The designers seemed to finally get fringe just right for Fall 2021. From touches of long fringe on this blue coat at Jason Wu to the dramatic fringe cut from the cloth of this white coat at Ellie Saab to the modern Western inspired street worthy black coat at Etro, the fringe for fall 2021 is all about movement.
9. Take The Cape
Capes took on many forms for fall from dressy to casual. We are so used to being at home wrapped up in a blanket, the designers are moving us out to the street and offering us the same comfort. From a soft maxi winter white knit cape at Gabriella Hearst, to a grey flannel leather trim cape at Peter Do, to a mixed media tweed, black and bright short cape at Louis Vuitton, wrap yourself in the cape trend for Fall 2021.

I am dying to see what’s under that navy trench…all that long lined denim! I like that long lean look.
So do I! I’m thrilled the denim tuxedo is in!
So sweater vests are back? Wow!
