The fall/winter clearance sales are in full swing, making room for the spring merchandise that is beginning to fill the stores. This is my favorite time if year because I’m a bargain shopper. When I see the 80% off sale at my beloved Net-a-Porter, I’m all over it. And the first category I usually check out is shoes. I have had good luck in the past finding shoes at this sale. Their shoes are all high quality and/or designer shoes, and now they are on sale for a lot less. Another reason this is such a good sale is because you can scroll over to the new spring arrival shoes and find almost exactly the same styles as some of the sale shoes. Here are some of the best shoes and sandals for spring.
Best Shoes and Sandals For Spring 2023
The shoes I found are ideal for women over 50. At this point in life, we know what we like, and what we will wear. Most of us like comfort, practicality and quality, and every once in a while, something just for fun.
For this splurge vs steal post, I actually worked backwards. First I found six wonderful shoe and sandal clearance options for a steal. And then (to prove to you that these styles are worth your while, and they will stay in style) I found similar new designer shoes that cost a lot more. The sizes are limited on the “steal” shoes, which is why you need to act fast.

Take a look and decide if you will splurge or go for a steal on these fabulous shoes and sandals you can wear this spring and for years to come.
White Chunky Loafer
Lauren loved the black chunky loafer for fall and now you will see them in white for spring and summer. These Fendi Fendigraphy Leather Platform Loafers are super stylish for $1,190. But you can pick up these Tod’s Leather loafers that were $625 for 50% off! Now they are only $312.50. That is quite a bit of savings over the new spring loafers.
The Nude Platform Sandal
Platforms are a huge trend and these Valentino Garavani Tan-Go 120 patent-leather platform sandals, are worth the $1,200 investment. They will work with wide leg pants and midi dresses and skirts for spring. However the Net-a-Porter sale offers these Porte & Paire leather platform sandals (yes, this is their own brand) for only $126! They were $315 and are now 60% off. They have a similar color and easy-to-walk-in pitch for a platform, and can be worn all the same ways as the Valentino ones.
The Black Brogues
These menswear inspired shoes are a classic and they are showing up again for spring 2023. The Row’s Ranger Derby Shoe is made to perfection for $1,190. Indeed, everything from The Row has a high price tag, but you will keep and cherish these shoes for years to come. But just as collectible are these Ann Demeulemeester Olivier leather brogues. They once were $965 but they are now on sale for $386. Jump on these!
The Tan Leather Clog
We loved them in the 70s and now you can get clogs with a lower heel. These Re/done 70s Classic Leather Clogs are $415 and you can wear them practically every day. Clogs are so easy to slip on and will work with jeans, cropped pants, long shorts and casual dresses. But here’s a really great deal. These Isabel Marant Thalie buckled studded leather clogs were $460 and now with 70% off they are only $138.
The Fun Sneaker
Every woman over 50 needs some sneakers so why no make them bold, comfortable and fun? These Moncler Trailgrip Mesh Low Top Sneakers will get you around town or city in style for $750. Or pick up these cool NIKE + Ambush Air Adjust Force SP rubber-trimmed suede sneakers that were $210 and are now only $84. I’d wear either of these sneakers with everything including jeans, dress pants, asymmetric or pencil skirts, and t-shirt dresses as well as athletic wear for spring and summer.
The Black Wedge Mule
Every spring season I seek out a pair of black wedge mules. These Rag & Bone Santiago Leather Wedge Sandals are ideal for $395. They have a comfortable heel height and can be worn casually with jeans or pants, or a little more dressed up with skirts, dresses or jumpsuits. Or you can spend $285 less and pick up these Staud Nevil asymmetric leather wedge mules, now on sale for only $110.
So do you want to splurge on new pair of designer shoes for spring? Or now do you want to go shoe shopping at the Net-a-Porter sale for a steal?

I love, love, LOVE shoes! Especially chunky funky ones! Sadly, with my twisted and surgery-scarred feet, I’m stuck with a very limited number of styles. Sigh.
There are always cool shoes to be found for any foot “situation.” How about those loafers? And luckily Birkenstocks are on trend again! Good luck!
