The key is to stay current without trying to look too young or too formal. If you don’t know what to wear to a football game, I’ve put together a chic outfit idea for women over 50, with options ranging from high-end to more affordable pieces.
What To Wear To A Football Game: High/Low
The high-end pieces are on the left and the low-priced pieces are on the right. You can barely tell them apart, right? So you can decide if you want to wear it high or low, or mix it up.

A T-Shirt Base
This outfit needs to be comfortable, so the first base layer is a white scoop neck t-shirt. I chose a long sleeve tee, however, depending on the weather you may substitute this with a short sleeve t-shirt or even a tank. This BOSS Scoop Neck Stretch Jersey Top is $98 but is a worthwhile investment because you will wear it for years and it will last just as long. Or you may want to pick up this Caslon® Scoop Neck Long Sleeve Cotton Knit Top (that may not last as long) for only $25.
Classic Jeans
Are your jeans up-to-date? You may want to invest in a classic pair of jeans like these Rag & Bone Harlow Ankle Straight Leg Jeans for $238. The medium wash, straight leg styling and cropped length is very versatile and will work with a variety of shoe choices. And the 1% stretch will move with your body and help keep their shape. The Cardigan Sweater
Sitting in a stadium for hours (or the hours it may take you to get there in a car) you will want something cozy to wear. But you read that correctly, the zeros are in the right place, it is two thousand and six hundred dollars! Imagine the seats you could get for that amount of cash. Athletic Prep Sneakers
Since you will be on your feet and doing a lot of walking at the football game, a pair of sneakers are in order. Athletic prep sneakers are on-trend this season and they are perfect for women over 50. You may have already owned a pair in your past, but it’s time for a new pair. These Vince Oasis Sneakers for $250 will make your feet happy. I have always found Vince shoes to be extremely comfortable. They are available in a lot of color choices too. But you can save a little cash and get these almost mirror image Ash Sunset Sneakers for $215. OK, usually I find a much lower-price counterpart, but the similarity of these sneakers is so stunning I had to share. Besides, I have always found Ash shoes to be extremely comfortable as well.
Regulation Stadium Bag
This part of the outfit isn’t pretty, but it has become necessary to carry a clear regulation stadium bag (measuring 12″ X 12″ X 6″ or less) into the game. But the cleanest looking stadium bag I found is this Stoney Clover Lane Clear Curved Crossbody Bag for $78. It is also the most expensive. So you can just go to Amazon and buy something like this Vorspack Clear Bag Stadium Approved – PVC Clear Purse Clear Crossbody Bag for $9.99.
