How To Style A Cropped Jacket Outfit For Women Over 50 High And Low

You may have noticed, the cropped look is everywhere! You’ve seen it in stores, on TV, online and on 20-somethings. They are wearing cropped tops and baring their midriffs. No, women over 50 cannot and do not want to wear them. We all remember short and cropped looks from our past and don’t think we should go there again. However now that pants and jeans are higher waisted and wider legged, why not give it a try? I was inspired by Lauren’s fabulous find, a cropped trench jacket for only $20! I love the look, and decided to put together a high-end cropped jacket outfit for women over 50. And if you don’t want to invest a lot into this look, I also styled a look-alike low priced outfit.

Crop Jacket Outfit Styling Tips

1. Wear high waisted pants, jeans, skirt or fitted dress with a cropped jacket. Especially like this jacket, when it is slightly oversized, you need to balance it off with something slimmer around your waistline. Avoid bottoms with gathers or pleats at the waist.
2. Wear a fitted top such as a tank or t-shirt, and make sure it is long enough to tuck in. This keeps the volume down around the waistline and a thinner fabric will stay smoother under your pants or skirt.
3. Balance out your silhouette with flare or wide leg pants and flowy skirts or dresses. You can try slimmer fitting pants or skirts but most women over 50 will feel more comfortable with loser bottoms.
