Wearable Trends: High Waist Sailor Pants For The Holidays

It’s not the season for a silhouette that is sexy, slimming and elongating. It’s the perfect time of year to try this month’s extremely wearable trend: high-waist sailor pants. I’m thrilled the high waist pant has come back around. They provide support to the midsection, and create slim lines, all while making your legs look a mile long. Though the sailor style pant classically has decorative (and sometimes functional) buttons up the front, the more modern versions have clean lines, tie waists, pleats, and exaggerated cuffs. Finding a pair in a rich fabric like wool or tweed is ideal for cold weather months and can work in a number of settings including the office, a night out or even a holiday party! You will want to make the pants the star of your outfit should you choose to sport this look. Opt for a cropped top that falls just at the waistline of the pants, or an airy blouse that you can tuck in easily. Ideally you’d want to have your statement pants in a neutral color like black, navy, tan or white so you can play up your top, accessories and shoes (think floral, sequins, ruffles and dramatic pops of color). However, if you are wearing your sailor pants to a fabulous holiday party, go all out and try to find a pair with lace, metallic, brocade or sequin details. Just one more note, you want to create the illusion of height and assist the pants in elongating your body, so go for big girl heels! Don’t be afraid to pull out your highest stilettos or platforms to wear with your sailor pants. Sailor-Pants-Wearable-Fashion-Trend-2015-FountainOf30 Get the Look: 1.
