Which of These Wardrobe Weaknesses Is Lingering In Your Closet?

If putting together an outfit feels like a hassle, you’re not alone. I know a lot of women who spend a significant amount of time getting dressed. And studies show that over 4 in 10 women try on over half of their wardrobe in an attempt to create a good outfit.

While it’s easy to think there must be a complex, deep-rooted reason behind this issue, it’s usually quite simple — people don’t have the right clothes!

From my experience working with hundreds of women’s wardrobes, I’ve learned that there are 3 common closet shortcomings that lead to frustration and indecision while getting dressed. These wardrobe weaknesses can derail even the most carefully curated closet!

Read on to find out if your wardrobe is weighed down by one of these problem pieces.

Here are The 3 Weak Links Lurking In Women’s Closets

The Worrier

If you’ve got a worrier in your closet, you’ll know right away. It’s the item that is almost perfect — like 90% there — but something about it gives you a little nagging feeling of worry or doubt when you wear it. It could be the color, the cut, or the material, but there’s something off about this garment.

For one of my clients, it was her pretty blouse with ruffle details. She loved the top, but the hemline fell just a little bit too high, leaving her midriff exposed. It wasn’t quite a crop top, but it also wasn’t quite right either.

If you don’t have any wardrobe worriers, keep reading to see if you have the next weak link.

The Single That Never Mingles

This wardrobe shortcoming isn’t always obvious at first because it looks great on its own. It’s just terrible when it’s time to pair it with something else.

Take a brightly printed butterfly blazer, for example. It’s bold and beautiful, and I see how it could seem like a great idea in the store. But transitioning this garment to real life and the rest of your wardrobe could be difficult. Because every time you see it in your closet, you want to wear it, but never know how!

Let’s move on to the last weak link.

The Out Of Character

This piece isn’t your typical style. It doesn’t feel like ‘you’. For example, if you’re a timeless classic, then a heavily embellished, boho dress will feel like too much for your taste. That’s why you’ll never want to wear it — you don’t like it! (Click here to discover your style personality.)

Why We Buy

It’s understandable if you’ve got these weaknesses in your wardrobe — they’re easy to end up with. Sometimes it’s because we made choices without thinking them through. I definitely have gotten swept up in the excitement of shopping!

But other times, we just don’t know what we really need. So we buy what looks cute in the store even if it has nothing to do with our wardrobe and style. The bottom line is that the struggle to get dressed is rooted in your closet which comes down to your shopping habits. You’re not buying the right clothes!
