Spring ’16 is a turning out to be a big nod to the seventies – in both fashion and footwear. One trend we are noticing in a huge way is laser-cut shoes. They run the gamut from espadrilles to booties to sneakers, booties, shooties, and everything in between. They are so cool (literally) since they get a little air on your feet in the hot summer heat! Slip on a pair of block heel laser-cut mules to wear with faded flare jeans or try a pair of lace-up flats with a boho maxi dress. So cut yourself a slice and get some laser-cut shoes now.
There are some trends I know I will simply never wear. Case in point: the off-the-shoulder trend. Even though shoulders may be one of the last things “to go” on women (basically because the skin’s gravitational pull keeps our shoulders looking smooth) I think this trend should be reserved for young women under 30. Then …
The Bomber jacket is the transition jacket that is literally the bomb. This is obvious considering they have been on trend for a few seasons and are still as hot as ever! I did a post on them back in February called An Early Spring? Bombers Away! Well I still have not bought one so I thought I better get on it and guess what? They are selling out like hotcakes. So if you have not bought your bomber jacket for these spring cool days and evenings hop to it!
Nothing says spring more than butterflies. While I’m not as wild about them as Mariah Carey, I have noticed butterflies are this year’s flower. They are everywhere in fashion! From shoes, to bags, to dresses, butterflies are free to fly.
Here are just a handful ways to add some colorful butterfly wings to your life.
I love stripes, I really do and while I am thrilled they are once again back on trend for spring, I am intrepid. Why? Well most stripes just are not that flattering. I always love a menswear inspired or boyfriend blue and white stripped shirt, but that’s because the lines are usually vertical. So it got me thinking, what other striped items for spring I could find that are actually flattering – and thankfully I found quite a few.
We saw them all over the runway for spring 2016: soft, flowey, and slightly oversized belted overcoats reminiscent of the 80s. Do you remember these robe-like, slouchy midi coats? I immediately thought of Cybill Shepherd in Moonlighting or the oversized jackets on Miami Vice. The best part about these slouchy coats is that they hide what you are wearing underneath and give you a professional look in a flash.
