Ultherapy: A Non-Invasive Way To Tighten Your Turkey Neck

For the past I’d say 3 years I have noticed my neck starting to go – as in sagging. Ug. I have tried using neck creams, tightening creams and basically ANYTHING that promises a tighter neck. They don’t really work. I may I feel a slight tightening, but I needed something a little more drastic and going under the knife to have my neck pulled back, especially at my age is not really appealing. Yet when I think back to John Cage’s “neck waddle” obsession on Ally McBeal I want to punch something. It’s not funny.

Then I heard about Ultherapy – a laser ultrasound technology that lifts and tighten the skin without surgery or downtime, so I had to try it! What did I have to lose? Ultherapy is the only non-invasive procedure FDA-cleared to lift skin on the neck, under the chin and on the eyebrow. It has also been cleared to improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the décolletage. With Ultherapy you can see immediate results after just one treatment.

Ultherapy treats the deep layers of skin tissue – the foundational layers – without disturbing the surface of the skin. As we age the collagen in our skin weakens and the elastin starts to break down causing our skin to be more lax and sag. Ultherapy deposits focused energy below the surface of the skin to stimulate the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin in its deepest tissue layers. Thanks to ultrasound’s unique ability to bypass the top layer of the skin, Ultherapy is the only non-invasive treatment that can specifically target the deep foundation below the skin – typically addressed in cosmetic surgery – without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin. It is also the only procedure to use ultrasound imaging, which allows doctors to actually see the layers of tissue targeted during treatment to ensure the energy is deposited to where it will be most effective.

As a result, skin will actually begin to lift and tone over time. You will see some immediate results right after your treatment, but even better results are achieved in the months following the procedure as the collagen is reproducing. While Ultherapy is not a replacement for a surgical face lift, there are many people who want some lifting but are not ready for surgery, either mentally, financially or logistically. There are also younger people who want to “stay ahead of the game” as well as those looking to prolong the effects of cosmetic surgery. Ultherapy is an ideal solution for those who want a measurable lift, but don’t want or need surgery. That’s me!

I tried Ultherapy a little over a month ago with Dr. Frieder at Advanced Dermatology in NYC. I wasn’t nervous because I knew the next step is surgery which would make my REALLY nervous. Now I’m not going to lie, the procedure hurts like a mofo, but if you’ve given birth you can handle this. No pain no gain baby. Beauty is pain. Blah, blah, blah.

I saw a noticeable improvement immediately after the procedure which takes about 30-45 minutes. My neck felt much tighter (or maybe it was residual pain) and it still feels tight today 5 weeks after the procedure. Today I can’t honestly say my neck is where I’d like it to be, but I was told it takes about 2-3 months after the procedure to really work and further youthful and form-fitting skin should be revealed about 6 months after the procedure. I’m still waiting for the optimal results, but am optimistic. I’ll share pics when my neck is as tight as it was when I was in my 20’s. Until then, filters are my friend.

I still turn my head in every angle possible when I pose for Instagram pics and can’t wait until I don’t have to smooth out my neck with a filter. Snapchat is my personal hell. I’m hopeful social media will no longer be panic=inducing.

It’s a non-invasive way to tighten the neck, lift under the chin and raise brows

There’s no downtime

You can achieve natural results (some immediately)

No toxins of fillers are injected

Stimulates body’s natural collagen production

Most people only need one treatment.

It’s me! Before and right after Ultherapy. Obviously NOT retouched.
