I am so excited about summer getaways. And I am all abut my travel looks. My winter travel outfit is quite different than what I wear to a destination in the summer. Instead of traveling to a warm weather destination by plane, I tend to need more of a road trip travel outfit for summer excursions. The trips are usually an overnight or weekend stay at a lake house or cabin, so my look is much more sporty and casual.
Sporty Summer Travel Outfit for Women Over 50
I have to be comfortable while sitting in the car, and also be ready to get out and walk around to see the sights in both hot or cool weather. That’s is why I put together this ready-for-anything summer travel outfit and I styled it both high and low. You can wear it with all high-end designer fashion, low-priced very similar looking pieces or a mix of both.
Summer Travel Outfit Tips
1. Comfort. First and foremost, you want to be comfortable when you travel by car. Wear cotton and fabrics that breathe like jersey, and stretchy tech fabrics that wick moisture and keep their shape.

2. Layers. You may go from hot to cool temperatures on a summer day, or feel chilly with the air conditioning in a car. Wear lightweight t-shirt and pants, shorts or skirt for your base layer and bring a jacket or cardigan to cover you up when you need it. I like the versatility of a denim jacket.
3. Durability. Wear fashion that is not so delicate it will catch or tear. That’s why I like breathable techy track pants and sneakers for travel. Besides, you never know if you’ll get out of the car and hike at a rest stop, flea or farmers market, or tour a small town.
4. Versatility. Wear summer travel pieces in the car that you will wear again on your trip. You can wear the denim jacket with a t-shirt dress, the pants for a workout or as a swimsuit cover up, and the t-shirt to sleep in! And sneakers and a chic belt bag can go with all of your casual pieces on your summer trip.
