Just as there are super hot days in the summer, we are also faced with cool nights (and air conditioning). You don’t want to get caught off guard for those days when you need an extra layer. That’s why you need a versatile summer jacket (or two or three) so you can look stylish and feel warm on the chilly days and evenings of summer. You probably will need more than one summer jacket for different occasions from sporty to casual and work-appropriate to dressy. Luckily, I found them all.

Faded Denim Summer Jacket
A denim jean jacket is a classic and this year a super faded and slightly oversized one will serve you well. This style works well over an all black ensemble, with white jeans or pants and floral sundresses. If your summer is a casual one, this is the best jacket for you. Choose this Jean Paul Gaultier Printed denim jacket for $790 or pick up this H&M Short Denim Jacket for only $37! The only thing missing from the H&M jean jacket is the “Gaultier” name emblazoned on the back. I guess at least everyone will know you spent $790.
Cropped Trench Jacket
The short or cropped version of the classic trench coat is totally on-trend this season. It is versatile because it looks fabulous with slim skirts and trousers for work, but you can wear it with jeans and a t-shirt too. Splurge on this runway Burberry Canvas trench coat for $2,990 or get this H&M Short Twill Pea Coat for a steal at $42 (now $36).
Black Adidas Track Jacket
The classic track jacket is back and I like it in black. You can wear this jacket for your workouts but also take it to the next level and integrate it with classic pieces in your wardrobe such as a t-shirt dress or pencil skirt for that sporty-cool look. This Y-3 Adidas Originals Stripes Track Top is so chic for $300, but you can avoid the designer collaboration and and paying an extra $220 with this Adidas Adicolor Classics Loose Firebird Track Top for only $80 (now $56).
White Denim Jacket
Nothing says summer like a white denim jacket, and this season it is sleeker, cropped and bit boxier. It is the perfect take-it-with-you jacket for those summer days that start out warm but you never know if you will wind up freezing at night or in an air conditioned room. You can wear it with everything from denim to workwear to sundresses. This Nili Lotan Lio denim jacket is gorgeous but it will set you back $795. However, you can get this not-as-exciting Gap Cropped Denim Shirt Jacket in white on sale for only $53 (now $44).
Oversized Boyfriend Blazer
An oversized blazer is a must-have for summer. Wear it to work or give a casual pair of shorts or jeans an instant style lift with a boyfriend blazer. Plaid Tweed Blazer

Throw it on over white or bright colored wide leg pants and a blouse for a dressier look, or over your favorite jeans and a t-shirt for a more casual option.
