Helen Mirren, 78

Naturally, Dame Helen Mirren is on the list. The elegant 78-year old can pull off anything from the most perfect pantsuit to a canary yellow gown. No matter what color or style she wears, it always looks tailored and age appropriate. Never too much distracting color or too much cleavage. She wears sparkly cherry red and a full tulle skirt by Needle & Thread and sequined gold by the brand Niteline Della Roufogali. In May, she listed these two evening dresses on the rental app By Rotation with proceeds going to Women For Women International, a non-profit organization that supports female survivors of war. Talk about keeping her fashion sustainable, and for a good cause.

Julianne Moore, 62

The thing about Julianne Moore is that her style is very versatile. One minute she’s wearing a Saint Laurent army jacket and black flatforms and the next, a Grecian column gown with a very low cut neckline. Then you’ll see her in a high neck lavallière and some pleats or a ruffled dress. While she’s not afraid to take risks on the red carpet, Moore can go from opulance at Cannes to cropped jeans and a pair of Birkenstocks. That’s what we love about her the most.

Over 50 Celebrities: Nicole Kidman, 56

There were a couple of years when Nicole Kidman was all the rage on the red carpet. Every time there was an awards show, I’d wait with bated breath for her appearance, mostly to ogle over what she was wearing. Most of the time, I loved it. Sometimes, I didn’t. And even though W magazine says she still looks good in chartreuse, I have to disagree.

I could definitely do without the feathers or the cartoonish flowers. But Nicole Kidman definitely has her fashion moments and most of the time they are incredible. I will never be able to get that gorgeous emerald green Christian Siriano dress out of my head.

Kate Beckinsale, 50

Talk about celebrating your 50th in style! Kate Beckinsale was bejeweled in Swarovski crystal-emblazoned bodysuit to celebrate her birthday just a few years ago. The embellished bodysuit by Cavagh Baker was paired with a Nicole + Felicia Couture feather cape that wrapped around her arms and had a long train

Besides looking insanely good for any age, the actress isn’t afraid to show some skin and party like a Playboy bunny. “I tell you what. Getting old is f****** great,” she told her followers, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the most magical day full of joy and love and dear dear friends and the odd bird (not me but also me).”

While Kate wears a dramatic ball gown one minute and a snakeskin cut-out dress the next, it’s always her sexier, bedazzled and wild style looks that always get my attention, in the best way possible.

Cate Blanchett, 54

I almost left Cate Blanchett off this list, but if I had, I would never have lived it down. This gorgeous A-list actress has been looking regal for years, whether she wears romantic pale pink detailing by Givenchy or an edgy Louis Vuitton dress with trompe l’oeil prints and voluminous sleeves. I’ve seen this star’s style run the gamut from sharp black and white to gorgeous eggshell Lanvin. And did you know that she also aims to be sustainable? At this year’s Oscars, she wore an archival Louis Vuitton gown with a silk teal capelet and statement shoulder pads as well as black skirt with a train.

In the next 20 years, I imagine her continuing to wear sharp silhouettes, bold colors, and yes even mixed prints, and continuing to make them look effortless and chic.

  1. You have gathered many of my favorites. I think this group is beautiful and basically
they act human…with love and care to others. I cannot document that, but from what
I read about each of them, they’re OKAY.
