London Fashion Week Better Than New York?

According to designer Alice Temperley, yes.

“London’s better than New York Fashion Week now,” the fashion designer tells me at the Belvedere Red party at Bungalow 8 in the West End. “It’s so creative here, whereas New York’s more commercial, but London needs more days.”
London Fashion Week ended yesterday after only five days. “New York, Milan and Paris are all longer than here and that must change.”

Alice Temperley, who has shown in New York and London, is joining her hometown city for a full Fashion Week, instead of a Fashion Five Days, which is what this London Fashion Week became.
This is a very true statement. I have heard many industry insiders speak about how NY Fashion Week has become one big “BUY MY STUFF!” scenario and feeling, all while losing the artistic aspect and integrity of what the runway show was originally about. Is that just a sign of the times or a focus on what will become of all runway shows around the world? How do you feel about it? Do you think New York Fashion Week is becoming too commercialized?
