Actress Kristen Bell has been wearing some pretty savvy runway looks while out and about promoting Frozen 2. She has been spotted in some amazing designer coats including a lilac wool Nanushka on her way to The View and a powder blue and wine Bouguessa color-blocked number for Good Morning America.
Kristen has also been seen in Rochas quite a lot, including this stunning shimmering burgundy wrap coat with matching fuzzy turtleneck and pointed leather boots. Her By Far handbag and Lapima sunglasses pop against her all-burgundy outfit and pick up the hue of her sweater in brilliant amber hues. We saw monochrome looks like this on the runway for fall 2019 and we liked this trend for women over 40! Now we see it on Kristen Bell, and we want to steal her style. Only we don’t have a Rochas budget, but we still want to get her look. Well, you can! Here’s how to get this Kristen Bell burgundy look for less.

Kristen Bell Burgundy Monochrome Look For less
The Burgundy Belted Coat
Kristen Bell is only 5’1″ but a long midi coat is flattering on women of all sizes, and all ages. It would be great to find a shimmery fabric like her Rochas coat, but for a fraction of the cost, I found this Milano Burgundy Winter Coat in a very similar shade. This coat is now on sale for only $102.84 too. And it has buttons, which is a good thing, especially when the wind blows and the temperature drops.
The Kristen Bell Burgundy Furry Textured Sweater
Kristen’s Rochas mohair fur sweater adds texture to this monochrome look, giving it added dimension and interest. This Keepsake Cheerful Knot Sweater has a furry texture and will work the same way for only $155.
The Burgundy Tall Pointy Boots
The beautiful smooth leather Rochas boots compliment Kristen’s coat, which has a bit of texture with its shimmer. So I am going to do the opposite, and recommend these Steve Madden Triumph Knee High Boots in burgundy with a crocodile texture to play against the solid wool coat – and because they are only $149.95. Compare that to the Rochas boots which are usually around $1000.
Modern Pop Of Color Bag
Kristen keeps her look in all burgundy except for a shot of bright color with her tan structured handbag. Her handbag is from By Far, an Australian line of quality Italian leather bags and is around $700. This Nordstrom Concertina Accordion Leather Shoulder Bag will give us a similar look for only $149.
Pop Of Color Sunglasses
Another more subtle pop of color is in Kristen’s sunglass frames. Her shades by Lapima are $470 but you can get these Quay Australia After Hours Square Sunglasses for $55.
Simple Hoop Earrings
Kristen’s simple gold hoop earring make a clean statement. You notice her earrings and they draw attention to her face, but they do not compete with her outfit. No wonder so many stylists use hoop earrings. Try out the look with these Madewell medium hoop earrings, which are now on sale $13.50. If you find you wear them a lot then invest in a good pair.
Styling Tips
1. Monochrome looks lengthen and flatter everyone. So try a coat, top and boots ensemble in any rich shade you like to get this look. It can be deep forest green, navy blue, cinnamon, teal, charcoal or any other color (that you can find matching boots).
2. Be sure your midi coat fits you well. Alter the sleeves and the hem if need be. Kristen’s sleeves look a little too long for her petite frame (did she take the model’s coat?). Make sure it is hemmed to the right length, about 3-6″ below the knee. With a monochrome look, since your boots are the same color, this measurement does not need to be too exact. And it’s the matching boots that give you a longer, slimmer silhouette.
3. Try monochrome colors with your outfit under your coat. Create a uniform and modern look with a top, pants and shoes, or a sweater, skirt and boots, all in one color. Then you can top it off with a black, grey or neutral coat for another way to wear monochrome. This way you can wear the monochrome trend and won’t have to invest in a new coat!
