How To Do Rainy-Day Style Like The Celebrities

April showers bring May flowers? I wish! I’m pretty tired of this year’s April showers, aren’t you? It seems like every other day has been a cloudy, rainy day, at least on the East Coast. All this gray is bringing negativity into my life,so I will try to look at the positive. The best thing about rainy day weekends is, of course, rainy day wardrobes! Let’s take a peak at the celebrities who show us how to do rainy-day style. it’s time to get out the long coats, the hoodies, the plastic rain jackets, the rain boots (my personal favorite!) and, of course, those stylish umbrellas. There’s definitely a way to turn those gray days into pops of colors and fashion-forward style.

Rainy-Day Style Like The Celebrities

Lily Collins styl rainy day outfits olive green Madewell Jacket

Lily Collins Style – Madewell Jacket

Lily Collins knows that the key to perfect rainy-day style is a hooded parka with fur or sheepskin lining. That’s why she chose to throw on a Madewell jacket with faux fur trim. When I tried to find a similar style online, I was instantly attracted to the Madewell x Penfield Deerfield A-line Parka tweaking a heritage-style jacket with a cool A-line structure. But alas, this quilted look is sold out. No matter, because Madewell has a few more utility-style coats that work well in stormy weather. Try the Passage Jacket. It’s a lighter piece that keeps you covered in the rain but can be great any season of the year.

Sarah Jessica Parker Style – Hunter Rain Boots

Who doesn’t love a good rain boot? They are a classic staple when the puddles arrive. Hunter is the go-to brand for celebs who want to face the elements, gracing the feet of everyone from Reese Witherspoon to Meghan Markle and Stella McCartney. The great thing about these rubber wellies is that they can toughen up the daintiest dress or liven up the darkest denim. They come in a variety of colors from neutral to bright. Established in 1856, this 163-year old brand is still going strong and who better to show their appreciation than Sex and the City fashion icon herself Sarah Jessica Parker? She has worn the boots out and about at least five times.

Gwen Stefani Style rainy day outfits Long Striped Scarf

Gwen Stefani Style – Long Striped Scarf

A pop of color goes a long way on a gray day, and so does a stylish, striped scarf like the one worn by Gwen Stefani with her trench coat. The singer always knows how to make herself stand out in the style department, even when her color of choice is black. This is an easy one to replicate at home. Burberry makes a great cashmere scarf with its iconic check print, but, for something a little bit different, why not try this yarn-dyed striped wrap from Nordstrom. It has similarities to Gwen’s scarf, but it certainly won’t break the bank like the Burberry one might.

Diane Kruger Style rainy day outfits The Bubble Umbrella

Diane Kruger Style – The Bubble Umbrella

get yourself a funky, clear, giant bubble umbrella like the one actress Diane Kruger carries in this picture (with her former flame Joshua Jackson). If you prefer not to go the bubble route, you can always go with a zebra print or bold pattern on the much-needed rainy-day accessory. But the bubble umbrella is so much more fun, isn’t it?

Did these four celebs inspire you? Which of these pieces will you add to your rainy-day wardrobe?

  1. I actually love walking in the rain, though in CA we don’t get to do that very often. These styles are fun. And a great invention–the umbrella that can fit in your bag.
