Are you (and your closet) ready for 2024? Whether you are jumping into the year of the dragon with both feet, or feel the need to hibernate until spring, the new year is indeed upon us and with that all the “new year, new you” messages. This includes new trends and new merchandise in stores, of course, along with various goals and initiatives being promoted that tend to range from inspiring to exhausting. Are you making any fashion New Year’s resolutions?
Fashion New Year’s Resolutions
Personally, we tend to think that January is a good time to reorganize our wardrobes, toss or donate things that no longer work well, and see what gaps need to be filled. It’s also a good time to make any large or small fashion or style-related resolutions or changes! Here are some of our fashion resolutions for 2024.

Wear the good stuff.
No more saving something you love for a special occasion. Granted, we’re probably not going to wear black tie gowns to Target, but your favorite pieces aren’t doing you any favors sitting in your closet. Also, you may fall out of love with a more of-the-moment item or something might not fit your future body or lifestyle. Wear it now!
For instance, if you have a beautiful designer coat (like this shearling one from Frame) or a piece of jewelry that seems too fancy for your every day lifestyle, find a reason to wear it. Even if the reason is that it’s Monday and you need a pick-me-up.
Ditch the uncomfortable shoes.
While we will always love a good stiletto, there are way too many cute flat or chunky heeled shoes out there to suffer any longer. For instance, these sleek Franco Sarto boots would be perfect with skirts, dresses, and slim-cut or wide leg pants – and they are very walkable.
Keep our bags streamlined.
There is no need to carry everything (and the kitchen sink) around town – really. Sticking to a more comfortable and more importantly, smaller bag not only looks chic, it’s much easier on your back and shoulders.

Pick a specific style challenge.
If there is a certain piece, style, or trend that you thought you could never pull off, but have always loved, 2024 might be the time to try it out, whether it’s a particular silhouette or super bold or unusual item that’s outside the norm (for your wardrobe or personal style, at least). For instance, instead of a basic black parka maybe this is the year you opt for a leopard print faux fur!
You don’t necessarily need to rock a complete look if you love a particular subculture or fashion niche either — if you’ve always loved streetwear looks, for instance, get those Jordans or Off-Whites and figure out how to work them into your wardrobe (hint: we love sneakers with a casual solid-colored dress, or luxe them up with wide leg trousers).
Invest in the best workout gear.
We love a good athleisure ensemble, but do you actually wear those outfits to the gym as well? If you have quality workout clothes, you’re more likely to actually use them, especially the practical stuff like good sports bras and socks.

What is that outfit you picture yourself wearing on your dream vacation or perhaps at your anniversary, or maybe a piece you said you’d invest in when you hit a professional milestone? Even if you don’t make a purchase, visualizing what you’ll wear can help you get that much closer. Manifestation works!
