8 Fabulous Boot Trends To Be Rocking Right Now In 2024

Every winter, the latest boot trends beckon to us, whether they are practical or not. And while some styles certainly don’t work for every person and every climate (open-toe suede booties, for example), there’s no denying that getting a fabulous new pair of boots makes us feel, well, fabulous.

Winter Boot Trends for 2024

For most of us, December, January, and February are the months we need to wear boots simply because the winter weather demands it. But that doesn’t mean that we have to sacrifice all of the style. Here are some of the hottest boot trends for winter 2023-2024:

Classic Knee Boots

If boots (whether they are flat or have a heel) to the knee are your favorite, then you’re in luck. After thigh highs and ankle boots trending for so long, the flattering knee height is back and we’re kind of thrilled. Whether you opt for simple and sleek in black or something that makes more of a statement like this pair from Schutz with the subtle embossing, now is the time to stock up.

Riding Boots

While riding boots never really go out of style in some circles, equestrian boots like this two-tone pair from Vince Camtuo are popping up in stores now and we think they’re due for a comeback. Plus they are comfortable and useful in the rain, slush, and even snow.

Kitten Heel Boots

This lady-like style is getting popular and while they can be a challenge to pull off, we’re liking them with cropped trousers as well as midi or maxi skirts and tights, especially if you need a little height but still want to keep things delicate. Try these Madewell kitten heel booties with studs for a bit more visual interest and flair.

Fold-Over Boots

Whether you like them slouchy and long or with just a folded-over top, boots with the cuffs are having a moment. Something like these knee boots with an extended top cuff from Marc Fisher are a dramatic take on this look that we’re loving right now. Try them with tights or skinny pants for a modern take on skinny jeans and boots, or anything you’d normally wear a chunkier moto or Chelsea boot since they add the same visual weight in a more graceful manner.

Metallic Boots

If you want to make a statement with your footwear, going for something high-shine or a glittering metallic is always a solid choice. We’re into all things silver lately (a little Beyonce Renaissance tour inspiration never hurt anyone), including these silver Franco Sarto knee boots.

White Boots

White, ivory, or cream colored boots may not seem like the most practical option for winter, but depending on the material they can work (think smooth leather versus suede or fabric, and don’t forget to waterproof them!). We like these ivory Vintage Foundry boots (via Macy’s) for a fun alternative to black or brown — think how striking they would look with a black coat and coordinating cream colored accessories!

Western-Style Boots

Even if you’re not into the complete cowboy look, wearing boots with that silhouette — a pointed toe and slightly tapered chunky heel — is definitely on-trend.  Western boots are a nice alternative to the riding boots and ankle boots we’ve been seeing for the past few seasons. Check out these knee boots from Dirty Laundry (available at Nordstrom) to add a bit of cowgirl swagger without being costume-y.

Square Toe Boots

This 90s-era shape is back and while we don’t love every iteration, we do think it’s fun to dip a toe into (see what we did there?). This waterproof version from Vivaia is fun (love the red heel) and likely practical as well.
