5 Fashion Intentions To Inspire You For The New Year 2023

While we’re not big fans of making the more traditional type of New Year’s resolutions, we definitely like to set our fashion intentions for the upcoming year. And that includes what we are wearing, how we are taking care of our skin, hair and ourselves!

Fashion Intentions And Goals For 2023

Setting your intentions – whether you write them down, share them with the world, post them on social media, or just keep them to yourself – is a great way to reset and start the new year off on a positive note. Your intentions can be as simple as wearing more color or (finally) organizing your closet, or as far-reaching as working to eliminate that nagging voice in your head that tells you that you have nothing to wear.

Need some inspiration? Check out some of the fashion intentions and goals that we are setting for 2023.

1. Refine Our “Uniforms”

We all have our favorite shapes, silhouettes, colors and accessories. Combined, these may make up our signature outfits or uniforms. Whether you prefer to switch things up seasonally and follow some of the trends or you go for a more classic look, there’s no denying the fact that developing a set uniform or standard outfit for different occasions can make getting dressed and shopping much easier.

Treating yourself to a higher quality of your uniform pieces may be in order too. After all, anything you wear a couple of times per week or more is a worthy splurge in our opinion. Just think about how often you’ll get to appreciate it! For instance, if you are a leather jacket lady (we all know who we are), get one that’s elegant and badass like the one from AllSaints. Or if you live in black yoga pants, get a super flattering pair like these from Spanx with a modern skinny flare.

2. Keep A Wardrobe Diary

However, crafting your fail-safe outfits or uniforms can be challenging. That’s why we suggest keeping notes on whichever pieces or looks you find particularly enjoyable to wear (or however you define a successful outfit). And also  take notes which pieces just aren’t it and that you may need to replace. It’s a work in progress!

There are many wardrobe diary apps that you can use, or create a private Instagram account just for mirror selfies that can help you capture your daily looks (no need to share with anyone). Or go old school and take notes in a pretty journal like this gold Moleskine

3.Remix Our Closets And Collections

If you are anything like us, chances are you have plenty of interesting pieces tucked away in your closet, not to mention jewelry, scarves, bags, belts and other accessories. One way to help you rediscover and remix your pieces is to literally put them on display. Something like this rack from Mkono via Amazon would work for sunglasses, necklaces, lighter scarves or belts.

4. Toss the “Laundry Day” Socks or Underwear

Why wear something that’s worn out or has holes, or otherwise doesn’t fit right when it’s relatively easy to stock up on new ones? Besides, disagreeable underpinnings can ruin your whole day. You can get multi-packs of high performance socks from your favorite brands on Amazon and Soma always has specials on underwear

5. Ditch the Uncomfortable Shoes

The same goes for shoes! Not only can uncomfortable shoes ruin your whole day, they can hurt your back, hips, affect your posture and more. And we understand the love for a beautiful shoe. But we all may need to ask ourselves this: “Do I miss the stilettos or high heels themselves, or the feeling I had wearing them?” It might be the latter, and if you do, you can definitely find pieces that duplicate that feeling without the side effects.

For instance, these cushy booties are made by Teva but they hardly resemble the hiking shoes the company is known for, and even Birkenstock is doing designer collabs. We are in the golden age of stylish but comfortable footwear, so take advantage and toss or donate any shoes that make you dread wearing them.
