‘Tis the season! It’s beginning to look a lot like holiday time. But beyond the Christmas lights, the tree at Rockefeller Center, the bundled up winter coats and cashmere scarves, how else do we know it’s Christmas? By what the celebs are wearing, of course! Let’s take a look at these celebrities for holiday style inspiration.
Celebrity Holiday Style Inspiration
For some celebrities it’s subconscious. For instance, I don’t think Kate Middleton was particularly thinking of Christmas when she wore that stunning emerald green gown. And she’s been known to wear a Christmas outfit or two. For others, well they like to get into the holiday spirit by wearing something tropical (here’s looking at you, Lady Gaga.) OK, so that’s a bit of a stretch. We all know Lady Gaga likes to go against the grain. And flowers don’t exactly mean tropical. So let’s just say her outfit feels like a holiday look to me. It’s quite festive.
The point I’m trying to make is – when it’s holiday time, the winter motifs come out. The velvet and the blue and the white and the red and the green and the turtlenecks and the fur. The holiday trends are here, and it’s time to celebrate. We’ve got you covered.

Kate Middleton Festive Style
Here are two things you should know about this Jenny Packham stunner on Kate Middleton. 1) This is not her first time wearing this dress. She’s actually worn it before – it in Pakistan in 2019. 2) She didn’t wear this to a specific holiday event, she wore it to the Royal Variety Show on November 18 at the Royal Albert Hall. But doesn’t the look seem just perfect? It definitely gives off that holiday feel. I wonder if that’s what she was going for.
Everything about this look was a hit. Wearing her hair down (last time it was half up, half down), the padded shoulders, the Missoma Zenyu chandelier hoop earrings and the matching Jenny Packham clutch (not pictured here).
Sandra Bullock Holiday Style
Velvet can be a bit much. But when the holiday season rolls around, there can never be enough velvet for me. I’m used to seeing it in black though, as pants or a blazer, and definitely not in a bold color that actually works. Kudos to Sandra Bullock for matching her suit and doing it well.
At an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Sandra compared herself to Prince. “And I’m OK with that,” she said. The actress wore an incredible Temperley London velvet pantsuit with gold buttons and gold heels. She added a purple tie-neck blouse underneath, which made the look more high-end, I thought.
According to W magazine, velvet has “been a popular fabric as of late, with Cardi wearing it many times during her hosting gig. As the holidays close in, these three celebrities are making a great case for this deep color to replace the greens and reds that usually make up a late December wardrobe, and proving that velvet really is the fabric of the season.”
Kate Beckinsale In Velvet
Kate Beckinsale attended the Stella McCartney “Get Back” capsule collection and documentary release of Peter Jackson’s “Get Back” held at The Jim Henson Company in November in Los Angeles. She wore Stella McCartney, of course.
Well, okay, I wouldn’t necessarily call this the most festive holiday outfit ever. But it has a few things going for it. First, it’s a “risk” for Kate, in that it’s not something that she usually wears. From the psychedelic print to the orange sandals. Holiday time is the best time to try something different.
And then, there is the velvet. While the look is from Stella’s Resort 2022 collection, it’s a print fluid velvet top and matching skirt. Velvet is having a moment. Kate Beckinsale looks amazing. I love this look.
Lady Gaga Holiday Style Inspiration
Indeed, the floral jacket and split hem pants were an interesting choice for Lady Gaga to rock in the winter months, as the outfit is from Rodarte’s Spring 2022 collection. It does look quite festive, though and something about it feels like the holiday season to me, despite the flowers. It could be the white beaded flowers glitter against a blue satin jacket and the way she pairs it with a neck lace twist front turtleneck (I hear it’s a crop top?)
Split hem pants are a trend right now, and Lady Gaga definitely embellishes them with those Pleaser boots, something she has been adamant about showing off because they are vegan leather.
Leave it to Lady Gaga to change the rules for holiday season dressing.
Kylie Minogue In Holiday Glam
The Australian singer was captured in London wearing a feathered LaPointe funnel-neck cashmere-silk sweater and sequin high-waist trousers from the LaPointe Pre-Fall 2021 collection. Finally, a look that is not Resort, and yet, the color makes it look Resort. But alas, this is what makes the look so great for the holiday season.
Feathers and a turtleneck, glittery trousers – all of these pieces are great. I think the fact that she pairs them all together and wears them in that bright pastel blue color does it for me. It’s different. It’s not the typical red, burgundy, brown, deep green, midnight blue of fall and winter clothing. Or at least what we think fall and winter should look like. No, in this case, it’s eye-catching, and the feathers are placed in a location you would not normally think would work.
And it’s in bright blue!!
