5 Celebrities Who Surprised Us With Their Fashion in 2022

It was a stellar year in fashion for our favorite fashionistas, like Cate Blanchett, Zoey Deutch, Janelle Monae, Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, Tracee Ellis Ross, Kate Middleton, Keke Palmer, Drew Barrymore, Nicole Kidman, and more. But we’re not here to talk about the fashion stars who serve up stylish look after enviable look time and time again. Instead, let’s focus on the celebrities who surprised us with their fashion in 2022 – in the best way possible.

 

 

Celebs who made comebacks, took risks and changed style direction (for the better) are all on the list here. If this is what 2022 has shown us, we can’t wait for more of what 2023 has in store. 

 

Anne Hathaway Fashion in 2022

 

Call it a style evolution. But in fact, Anne Hathaway was never really one to appear on a worst dressed list. She was in The Devil Wears Prada, after all. Her style was never bad, it just didn’t stop the room. Enter Anne 2022. This Anne is iconic. She appeared at Paris Fashion Week in showstopping sequined hot pink Valentino Haute Couture.

 

She stunnned in colorful minidresses and bouffant hair for 60s inspired looks at the Cannes Film Festival. Then there was the very vibrant and very beautiful Schiaparelli Spring 2022 embroidered sequin suit with a gorgeous floral print, worn to promote her movie Armageddon Time at Cannes. This one, coupled with the colorfully dotted Christopher John Rogers jacquard bustier and voluminous skirt, are some of the best looks of the year. Anne’s stylist Erin Walsh has really outdone herself.

Jessica Chastain Fashion in 2022

Jessica Chastain has always been on my fashion best dressed lists and that’s because she knows what cuts and colors look good on her, while also taking risks. This year, she’s worn her fair share of blue, green, purple, and red and shown up at all the awards ceremony red carpets – Oscars, SAGs, Met Gala, you name it – wearing Gucci, Armani Prive, and more. In November, the actress stunned in a turtleneck with green Akris Lorenzo jacket and Faris bootcut trousers from the Akris Fall 2022 collection. Earlier in the year, she also looked drop dead gorgeous in a blue Gucci gown at the CMA Awards made of satin, embellishments, and black lace overlay.

You wouldn’t know it by looking at the pictures above, but Michelle Williams was pregnant with her third child this year. It didn’t stop her elegant, cool girl style then and it won’t stop it now. At the Gotham Awards in November, she wore a shiny and sharp Valentino Pre-Fall 2022 minidress and before that it was a leathery off-the shoulder Celine by Hedi Slimane number at AFI Fest just two months after having a baby!

 

Those weren’t her only memorable outfits this year. Some of you may recall the quirky Alessandra Rich dress with a white lace heart trim in the center at the New York screening of her movie The Fabelmans. Sure, Jessica from Go Fug Yourself! said she was mildly worried that Michelle Williams was wearing a potholder, but I liked the fun and funkiness of that dress. I still prefer cool girl Michelle, though. 

 

 

 

Florence Pugh Fashion in 2022

 

Florence Pugh may only be 26 years old, but her style certainly grew up this year, as she traded in her punky David Koma outfits for wispy Rodarte and romantic Erdem. The actress suddenly has a thing for pink, tulle, satin slips, and bustiers, as she’s taken quite a feminine turn in a few of them recently. The Rodarte number with its lace trim and caped tulle was quite elegant. The two piece Erdem number was more casual, but no less sweet and ladylike.
