The Recap And Fashion Drama of The RHONY Season 8: Ep 12

Well it’s official, the season that showed so much promise officially jumped the shark! This episode of The Real Housewives of New York was shockingly not only boring, but just plain bad. Two things become crystal clear while watching. One, you don’t need a husband to be RHONY, but you do need a dog. Two, the season was going to culminate around an assuredly toxic and drunken trip to Mexico (at least that was what Bravo banked on), but then the hostess of the trip discovered she had fibroid tumors and needed surgery and could not longer travel. Trip cancelled. Drama over.

Summer Sandals: Beach Slides

Admittedly I was not a fan of Birkenstocks last summer (in fact I hated them, always have). Therefore I am so thankful they are a big, fat OUT this year. The shoe Gods heard my pleas. To replace that hideous shoe is one that is slightly less offensive and one I actually like – the beach slide. They remind me a bit of the Adidas shower sandals some friends wore when I went to sleep away camp, but I digress.

Runway To Real Way: Sleek, Sophisticated Summer Whites

The summer solstice kicked off this week which means the clock is officially ticking on getting the most mileage out of your whites until Labor Day. And while a breezy white is practically a staple in your summer closet, we’ve combed the digital racks to handpick our standouts for a sleek, sophisticated look you can wear all season long.

Why I Love Sassoon Salon & A Giveaway!

Carol and I have been having our hair cut and colored at Sassoon Salons for nearly 11 years! Our relationship with Sassoon began in Chicago so when I moved to NYC in ’07 I simply transitioned seamlessly to their downtown location and Carol still continues to go in Chicago. But, this post is about my experience. Head colorist Hamid Latif has therefore been coloring my hair for nearly 9 years and he is the master and is without a doubt the best I have ever encountered and I have been coloring my hair for a long time. Every 6-8 weeks when I walk in he asks me what I want to do and I always answer, “whatever you think” because I trust him implicitly. Lately we have taken my hair a little blonder – as the greys increase I am heading down that road to platinum and am literally turning into my mother.

Outfit of The Day: A Romper in Real Life On Someone Over 40

Here I am (well into my 40’s) and I still love rompers as much today as I did when I was a little girl. Good thing they have grown up too. I have already posted tips on how to ensure a romper is age appropriate, but the major takeaway is to be certain the shorts are long enough (if you have to ask what that means, you need to read my post!). I love rompers because they are simple to style, comfortable and not as fussy as dresses. Believe it or not, this one (which is one of my absolute favorites) is from Old Navy, as are my sandals! Actually I have been turning to Old Navy a lot these days – more on that in a later post. By the way, link to everything I am wearing are down at the bottom of this post.
