One of my favorite Pantone Color Trends for Fall 2026 is Red Mahogany. This deep red-toned brown was dominant on the runways for good reason. It is more vibrant than chocolate brown and it’s a flattering shade. (You can see the full Pantone Fall 2026 color trend report here.)
This color can stand on its own as a punch of rich color with black, but it works extremely well as a neutral to mix with just about anything in your fall wardrobe. Wear it with neutral greys, beige, tans, navy, olive and deep greens, or with brighter shades like gold, orange, or even magenta, cobalt blue or lime green. And it adds a little extra oomph to your fall floral, plaids, checks and prints.

Red Mahogany also is gorgeous worn as a monochrome look, and it looks amazing in a variety of materials, fabrics and textures that pick up light or absorb it in different ways. These materials include silk, velvet, patent leather, croc-embossed leather, haircalf, wool and knits. For example, a soft sweater with a smooth leather skirt and croc-embossed boots in Red Mahogany gives you an interesting play of shine and texture.

How to Wear Red Mahogany for Fall 2026
The good news is stores are offering many variations of this color (in abundance) this season. You’ll find Red Mahogany under other names like Merlot, Burgundy, Wine, Cabernet, Red Brown, Garnet, Maroon and more. If you want to go a shade more toward violet, red or brown, you have that option too.
Here are some of my favorite pieces for fall. I’ll show you why you may like to add one to your closet this season or be tempted, like I am, to get several new items in Red Mahogany.

Shirt
L’AGENCE Tyler Long Sleeve Blouse in Merlo Red, $340
My favorite piece in Red Mahogany is a silky button-front shirt. I love this color paired with charcoal or light grey wool. Or wear it with your favorite denim jeans, or go monochrome with the matching tonal croc-embossed (another huge trend for fall) skirt as shown above.
Jeans
DL1961 Mara Straight Mid Rise Instasculpt™ Jeans in Viola, $229
Speaking of your favorite jeans, a pair in this color may be all you need to give your wardrobe a boost this season. As I said, this color is a beautiful neutral, so you can pair these jeans with anything you already own. Simply add them to your jeans rotation. This slimmer and lower-cut style is becoming popular because it is flattering and easy to wear.
Bag
Fraja Elodie Bag Burgundy, $328
A good-quality leather bag like this one by Fraja is a much better way to go than dishing out a ton of cash for a designer label. I adore the medium size, shape and shoulder straps of this bag… not to mention the gorgeous color!
Shoes
Larroude Loulou Mule Wine Velvet, now $245
Every time I see these Larroude mules, I swoon. The modern wedge shape is like a tiny piece of sculpture, and they look beautiful worn with skirts and dresses or trousers and jeans. And they are available in a shade of Red Mahogany, in a plush velvet. I’d want to wear them with black leather pants for fall. By the way, velvet is another fabric you will see a lot of for Fall/Winter 2026.
Belt
Madewell Triple Metal Keeper Belt, Cabernet Haircalf, $78
Here’s a way to make a small investment in this color trend. This best-selling style Madewell belt comes in haircalf, which adds interesting texture to everything you wear. It will add a little punch when worn with black denim jeans or to cinch the waist of a fall shirtdress or sweater dress.
Dress
Lauren Ralph Lauren Long Sleeve Turtleneck Tie Front Dress in Burgundy, $145
Cozy up in this soft sweater dress in Red Mahogany. The turtleneck style is a classic, and the built-in sash offers shape and conceals at the same time.
Boots
Sam Edelman Sylvia Knee High Boot, Merlot Croc, $250
I’d wear these Sam Edelman boots with the Lauren Ralph Lauren dress above to add shine and texture. I’d also wear them to amp up any other skirt or dress. I think boots are easier to wear than heels in fall and winter, and they are just as elegant. Plus, these boots are available in a wide calf, too.
Jewelry
Nickel & Suede Weston Leather Earrings in Garnet Suede, $35
Needless to say, jewelry in this rich shade of red-brown is a wonderful way to wear the trend. The color may be a trend this fall, but you will wear it for years to come. These lightweight suede earrings are a modern way to update your jewelry game for only $35.
Coat
Quince Wool Cashmere Double-Breasted Slouch Coat in Winetasting, $200
And last, you can wrap yourself in Red Mahogany this fall and winter. This classic style is one I know I would wear quite a lot. You can throw it on over anything and look polished!
What do you think about this color trend? Do you like any of my picks? How would you wear Red Mahogany?
