As important as it is to review the best spring 2025 fashion trends for women over 50 it is also imperative to point out the worst! I understand that many of the looks are artistic and creative, meant to make a statement, or may be just for the flow of a particular runway show. But just in case some women take the designers seriously, I am presenting to you the worst of the best. That’s right, many of the best collections included some of the worst spring 2025 fashion trends for women over 50, or any age. Take a look at some of these outlandish trends.
The Worst Spring 2025 Fashion Trends
Here are 9 of the worst Spring 2025 fashion trends to look at, laugh and avoid! What were they thinking?

1. Marshmallows
Did you know that marshmallows were a huge trend this season? Yes, stuffed kitchen trash bags, ping-pong balls and other puffy white objects walked the runway in many of the Spring 2025 fashion presentations. What were designers thinking? I’m thinking the Michelin Man is not a good look for women over 50, or at any age.
As shown at Alaia, Commes des Garcons and Anrealage
2. Lingerie Looks
Just please! I get that some of the shows opened with lingerie looks and then added clothing as the show went on, but some ended with underwear on the runway! No one will wear this. Except maybe Madonna.
As shown at Nensi Dojaka, Balenciaga and Dolce & Gabbana
3. It’s A Drag
This is another trend that may look dramatic and cool on the runways, and perhaps designers will produce versions for the stores … that won’t drag on the ground! I mean, who is going to purchase a designer look for thousands of dollars in gorgeous light colored spring fabric, and then allow it to drag on the ground? How pretty will the hems of these pieces look after you step one foot out the door?
As shown at Erdem, Tibi and Gucci
4. One Leg Out
And speaking of one foot out the door, “one leg out” looks were a new trend for spring 2025 that many women will avoid, especially if they don’t want to show off their legs (or leg). You put your right leg in, you take your right leg out, overall the look is hokey pokey.
As shown at A.W.A.K.E. Mode, Romeo Hunte and Victoria Beckham
5. Hoop De Doo
The hoop skirt showed up in many forms, but the short and above-knee-version is definitely one to avoid! Imagine trying to sit down in one of these. These skirts, however, do help you to keep your social distance. But I recommend distancing yourself from this trend. I’m sure it won’t be hard to convince you!
As shown at JW Anderson, Caroline Hu and Loewe
6. Fringe Fest
This trend is never-ending, and the amounts of fringe looks (and the impractical lengths) are overwhelming. Designers are having a fringe fest for Spring 2025 and women are tired of it. The party is over!
As shown at Proenza Schouler, Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior
7. Dingy Faded Florals
This may be personal, but I can’t hate these dull floral prints any more. The colors are not flattering and give off a bad retro vibe from a time I don’t want to go back to. The 80s maybe?
As shown at Chloe, Erdem and Loewe
8. Just Tights
No! Don’t take us back to leggings! We finally got over it. I’m taking a stand here. Tights and leggings should only be worn under a dress, an over the hips sweater, jacket or coat, and not with a midriff top!
As shown at Chloe, Balenciaga and Duran Lamtinkl
9. When Bad Colors Happen To Good Designers
This acid (bile) green color was shown in a variety of hues from neon to saturated. I like the color in nature, but not as a head-to-toe look for clothing! Even the best designers made a big violation by showing us this bad color (in unwearable styles) for Spring 2024. The color looks good on very few.
As shown at Brandon Maxwell, Gucci and Elie Saab
Do you agree that these are the worst fashion trends for Spring 2025? Did you see another one you can share?
