Are you looking for a new hair salon in Chicago? Do you want a relaxing experience along with a fantastic cut, hair color or style? Then you need to check out Zazu Salon Chicago at 64 E. Zazu is a 38 year old family run business and they treat you like family.
Zazu Salon Chicago
Zazu Chicago is conveniently located in the heart of the Gold Coast, right across from Bloomingdale’s between Michigan and Rush. So you can park for a reasonable price (and shop). It is steps from public transportation stops, near fine hotels, restaurants and shopping on Oak Street and the Magnificent Mile. You can get there easily if you are visiting or live in Chicago or if you are coming in from the suburbs you can make a day of it.
I was familiar with as well as impressed with Zazu since I visited the Zazu Exchange in Naperville where I tried some of the services you can receive in exchange for any product you purchase there. So I knew I would probably love hair color and styling from Zazu Salon in Chicago, too.
Zazu Salon Chicago Hair color and cut with Jess Vargas
I was greeted by friendly staff at the comfortable and gorgeous salon on the second floor of an 1890’s 3 level building with historic charm. My colorist and stylist for the day was Jess Vargas, Salon Manager. She told me she has been with Zazu for 12 years, so I knew she was more than qualified!
She asked me what I would like to do as far as color (I have highlights and low lights to cover the grey) and we decided to pretty much continue doing it the same way! This has been working out well for me because it minimizes the visibility of root grow out. For my cut she was careful to let me know how much she would cut off. This is important so I would not have any hair cut surprises! She was fun to chat with, answered all my questions and allowed me me relax.
Hair Care Products at Zazu Salon
Jess gave me a Kerastase Fusio-Dose treatment to hydrate and reconstruct my hair and then showed me some of the products she used to style my hair. She used Kerastase Resistance Cement Thermique for Weakened Hair and Shu Uemura Ample Angora Volumizing Light Foam to give my hair body and volume. Jess also used something I have never seen before – a squarish round brush to style my hair which she says she adores. You can use the flat edges to smooth out and the rounded corners to style. It’s the Bio Iionic BlueWave brush and you can purchase one at the salon.
I was extremely please with my hair color, cut and style by Jess. The time went by quickly since she did both my color and cut. I had more time to go shopping on the Mag Mile, only now with my beautiful new hair!
