Enjoy A Beauty Retreat at Zazu Salon Wheaton Near Chicago

Zazu Salon Wheaton

I recently visited Zazu Salon Wheaton, in a western suburb of Chicago, and I must say it was a wonderful beauty retreat experience. A few months ago I enjoyed a hair cut and color at Zazu Salon Chicago, and I plan to visit all four of Zazu’s locations (Chicago, Wheaton, Naperville, and Hinsdale) so of course I’ll let you know how it goes. I’m totally excited to check them out because so far I have been completely impressed with ZaZu’s excellent service and gorgeous salons.

ZaZu Salon in Wheaton

If you live in Chicago, you may like to take a little drive to Wheaton. When I drove in to the quaint downtown area I was happy to find free 6-hour street parking. That is certainly time for a color, cut and makeup. In fact you can also stay for lunch or do a little shopping! This Zazu Salon has the same look and feel as the salon in Chicago, but with even more open space…and more makeup.

Haircolor at ZaZu Salon

I was greeted by my stylist, Tania Quaranta. She has 11 years of experience and was trained with the same education as Jess in Chicago. So I knew I was in good hands. Zazu hair stylists do both color and haircuts. Tania explained she likes doing both because she has a vision and then she can see it completed! Since it is summer I wanted to go a little lighter and she agreed,”We’re going to cover the grey and brighten it up!” As for cut I told her I like it kind of long but need some volume for my thinning hair. With both highlights and lowlights, Tania gave my hair some dimension so it would not be one flat color. Tip: adding tonality to your hair will make it look more youthful, too.

Beauty Perk

Between color and rinse, Beauty artist Sally Vamvakas stopped by and gave me cool undereye patches (she had them in the fridge) to try from Valerie Beverly Hills, an exclusive beauty line only at Zazu. These undereye patches are great to de-puff for a special event, or any time! You can get 5 for $50. I was also offered ice tea or lemonade but decided to stick with water. “Good choice, it’s anti-aging…at least 8 glasses a day,” Sally reminded me.

Hairstyling

After rinsing and a conditioning treatment, (they have amazingly comfortable reclining chairs at the sinks) I was back to Tania for cut and styling. She showed me the products she used to style my hair to help me replicate the look at home. She used (my favorite brand) Kerastase Ciment Thermique, Mousse Bouffante and Elixir Ultime to add hold, body and shine to my hair.

Makeup at ZaZu Salon

Next I went back to Sally’s station for complimentary makeup which is available for all clients. If she is there she will do your makeup, show you amazing tricks and mix up a custom blend of foundation by Valerie Beverly Hills, in a perfect match just for your skintone. She gave me a little carry-out cup, and she can mix up a bottle for you for only $60. It is moisturizing, has a wonderful texture and gives great coverage. Sally was fantastic because she knows her products, can compare the many lines they have at Zazu to high-end brands you can find at department stores, and she does not push any products on you. However, I just had to pick up the Pink Stick by Valerie and now I am sold on the brand.
