Runway To Real Way: That’s a Wrap! Tie It Up this Summer with Paperbag Waists

How many times in life can we wear things wrapped up perfectly with a nice little bow? Luckily, the latest fashion trend we’re eyeing does just that! Paperbag waists are a fun, flattering alternative to a regular belt this summer, and were a constant fixture at the Spring/Summer 2016 runway shows. And though the S/S ’16 runways were awash with paperbag waists in rich tones, prints and texture, we kept it simple for our summer style round-up, armed with the mission of finding neutral pieces to last all season long.

Summer Must-Have Trend: White Skinny Jeans Under $100

In case you have not noticed, white skinny jeans are the jeans to rock this summer. It doesn’t matter if you wear them long or just above the ankle (avoid cropped which just make your legs look short) – so long as they are white. Now since we are talking about white jeans I personally think it’s foolish to spend a lot of money on denim that you’ll be lucky to get through one summer not ruining. So I have done my research and located some pairs of white denim that all come in at under $100!

Summer Sandals: Beach Slides

Admittedly I was not a fan of Birkenstocks last summer (in fact I hated them, always have). Therefore I am so thankful they are a big, fat OUT this year. The shoe Gods heard my pleas. To replace that hideous shoe is one that is slightly less offensive and one I actually like – the beach slide. They remind me a bit of the Adidas shower sandals some friends wore when I went to sleep away camp, but I digress.

Runway To Real Way: Sleek, Sophisticated Summer Whites

The summer solstice kicked off this week which means the clock is officially ticking on getting the most mileage out of your whites until Labor Day. And while a breezy white is practically a staple in your summer closet, we’ve combed the digital racks to handpick our standouts for a sleek, sophisticated look you can wear all season long.

Kicking it Old School

All sneakers are acceptable these days, but if you really want to be on trend, think about kicking it old school…as in retro sneakers. If they look like Bruce Jenner wore them in the 70’s or you ran in them in the 80’s, you pretty much get the idea. They are cut lower than modern sneakers, have a smaller tread base and have some striping. Go bright or go basic, it doesn’t matter. To be clear we are not talking about your Converse Chuck Taylors (which never seem to go out of style) or Tretorns like you wore as an 80’s prep. Think more Stan Smiths, or old school Adidas or Nike. Once you see the options below you will get the idea.
