It’s not too late to get out of town for a summer vacation. There is still another month or so before you are back to school, so why not try to squeeze in a little getaway before you are back to the grind? My family will be taking a vacation in a couple of weeks, my first proper one since my honeymoon six years ago! And I’m excited to pack up my summer gear and explore a new city.
What To Wear On Vacation This Summer
Even though we are going to a beach town, I’m more excited about the outfit options for when we are not at the beach. I’m looking forward to the clothes I’m going to wear while exploring the downtown area, visiting the botanical garden or even going out to dinner. So, I wanted to talk about some summer vacation wear to get excited about.
Matching Sets And Dresses
It’s no secret that a matching set is my G.O.A.T. for most situations and as I’m starting to plan what I’m taking on my upcoming trip, I found two new sets that I’m adding to my suitcase.

The first is this Resort Ready Set from Free People. The classic boat neck and stripes combination can’t steer you wrong. The loose fit, vented sides and body-skimming skirt are the definition of comfort. And the five color options allow you to find something that fits your personal style.
Another set that I fell in love with is this SNDYS Fine Knit Skirt and Top Set from ASOS. I love everything about this set. The subtle oatmeal color, the thin, breathable fabric and the slouchy, relaxed fit. This is one of those sets that looks very elevated, but you can practically live in it. You can wear it with sneakers and a baseball cap, or add some beaded sandals and a leather crossbody bag to make it feel special.
If a dress is what you’re looking for to pack on your summer trip, I found a simple option in this Jersey Drop Waist Dress that retails for only $34.99. Safari green has always been one of my go-to colors for any season or style, and jersey knit always packs well, so you don’t have to worry about wrinkles.
Finally, if you want something more colorful and tropical, I found this Fruit Floral Maxi Dress, which screams tropical vacation. It’s 100% cotton, which is always a plus, and the deep V neckline and loose fit give you a comfortable, chic and fun option to take with you on your getaway.
Tops And Pants
If you prefer separates, I’ve got you covered as well. I almost always take loose-fitting pants and easily mix-and-matchable tops with me to allow for the creation of multiple outfits.
So, if I’m packing separates, I’d start with these Quince Linen Wide Leg Pants. Honestly, depending on the length of my trip, I’d bring multiple pairs because they work so well with anything.

My second option would be these UltraSoft Easy Baggy Jeans from Gap. They give you a jean look without the heavy fabric of true denim. Both styles are going to make their way into my suitcase for my upcoming trip.
Tops that you can mix and match with these pants can start with this SuperSoft V-Neck Tee from Boden, which comes in multiple colors. The color options are great, with your basics covered, as well as some jewel tones and earth tones.
If you want to go sleeveless, I suggest this Heirloom Linen Sweater Tank. It’s chic, breathable and can be worn casually or dressed up and is available in solid colors too.
Summer Vacation Expert Style Tips
Take stock before pulling out that suitcase!
There have been so many times when I was trying to pack and didn’t really take a look at what I was trying to pack. Organize your thoughts, lay out your options, mix, match and pair what you want before you start to put anything in your suitcase. That way, you have a full view of what you plan to bring and you can finalize everything beforehand.
Mix, match and color block.
I like to bring lots of neutrals with me so I can easily mix and match my separates. Now, if you prefer bolder looks, color blocking is super on trend and fun and I would highly encourage it. Mixing red or orange and purple, blue and green or pink and yellow are great color combinations that give tropical paradise vibes without going super literal. Give it a try!

Nothing about vacation is supposed to be stressful, so don’t get too wrapped up in finding the perfect looks, picking the perfect combinations or making sure everything is exactly how it should be. One of the best parts of vacation is shopping at the local stores! Make sure to save room in your suitcase for those special finds while you’re out having your adventures.
