Now that we can go out in public without our masks at least some of the time (if you’re comfortable doing so), our lipstick collection and corresponding statement earrings are coming back out to play – in a big way! Here are some perfect earrings and lipstick parings.
Statement Earrings and Lipstick
Nothing says summer fun like bold shoulder-dusting earrings in a rainbow of colors or lip colors in vibrant tropical punch shades. And pairing them together can be a great way to bring out your favorite pieces and colors that may have been collecting dust for the past year or so and let them come out into the world. Here are some of our favorite ways to pair statement earrings and lipstick if you need a little inspiration…

Contrasting Colors
Think of opposites or complementary colors on the color wheel when you are putting together these bold looks. Imagine coral lipstick with turquoise or lapis blue earrings and deep fuschia, berry, or red with soft greens or teals.
You can also go seriously bold with yellow or citron earrings like these cascading petal chandeliers with lipstick that has a violet or mauve tone like Dior Addict Super Stellar Shine in Fortune or Superstitious. For something a bit softer, brownish rosy hues also look great with pale blues and aquas.
Matchy-Matchy
The matchy-matchy concept looks modern when it is earrings and lipstick. Red and pink are obvious choices – think about how amazing these coral chiffon flower earrings by Stella Ruby would look with a coral shade like NARS Niagara. Softer versions like rose gold lips and earrings or nude lip color with natural stones like tiger’s eye, onyx, agate, moonstone or various types of quartz can be excellent as well.
Metallics
While full-on gold or silver lipstick might be a lotta look for most of us, lip color with a metallic sheen like the Mac Dazzleglass glosses can be quite flattering, especially when it is offset by coordinating earrings in the same metal like these fun geometric earrings by Deyatt via Amazon. Note that by metallics we don’t mean those terrifying 80s frosted looks, but rather a sheer gloss with some glimmer to it. Wear it on its own or on top of a coordinating lipstick.
Tone On Tone
Soft rosy pink lipstick with deep cerise pink or magenta earrings (or vice versa)? Don’t mind if we do! Stick with hues that have the same undertone, just different levels of depth like these rose quartz druzy Baublebar earrings and bareMinerals Mineralist lip gloss-balm in Ambition. This can also work well with an orange-tinged or warm red and fiery orange earrings, shades of plum or purple and lavenders, and ruby reds paired with maroons or burgundies.
Don’t Forget The Blush
Many of us might be extra pale, especially around our cheeks, noses, and chins that were covered by masks. Accordingly, if you are wearing statement earrings or lipsticks, or both, you might require a little extra oomph there! A sheer wash of color in a shade like Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso or another color that echoes your lipstick almost always works, and don’t forget to add a little on the bridge of your nose and temples for a sunkissed glow.
Use Texture For Contrast
Matte lipstick like Sephora Lip Last in Rosewood and seriously sparkly or high shine metallic earrings like these curlicued chandeliers from BriLove at Amazon can play off each other well, and so can glossy or shimmery lipsticks and natural stones or metal with a brushed or otherwise softer finish. For instance, a sheer glossy red lip like Glossy Cherry Ultra Shine lip gloss by Sephora Collection would be amazing with these textured wood geometric earrings from BonaLuna (Amazon).
Long Wearing Lipstick
Remember that when lipstick is a primary part of your outfit and overall look, you may want to go for a long-wearing formula or plan on reapplying fairly often. And of course, keep a mask in your purse or pocket in case you need it.
How are you having fun with your look now that masks are less of a factor? Whether you are going to parties or events again or just enjoying looking fabulous at the grocery store (which we wholeheartedly support), we think it’s definitely time for a little joy and colorful exuberance in our fashion again.
