Yet another reason to be jealous of the New York shopping scene, comes compliments of our friends over at Fashionista.com. At a recent event they hosted they received word that handbag guru and all-around down-to-earth gal, Rebecca Minkoff, would soon be opening the doors of her first freestanding store! Minkoff's wildly popular eponymous line of handbags has made her a household name in both the fashion and celebrity style worlds. Now with a solid collection of apparel and an accessories line for men also under her belt, it only made sense that she needed more space to expand.

Minkoff reportedly said that she planned to open her first boutique sometime early next year, yet did not reveal a location. Its almost certain she will stay in New York with her store since, after meeting her myself last year, I discovered that her design studio and manufacturing were both located in Manhattan. Bad news for us chicago shoppers, but chalk it up as yet another reason to make a trip out East! Minkoff also mentioned that, in addition to her pieces, the store will be filled with, “things I love." Minkoff's camp reportedly noted that the designer plans to support CFDA up and comers, as she once was one herself.
