The original design of the Miss Wu handbag by Jason Wu
More good news on the handbag front! Jason Wu has announced he's already expanding his chic new line of handbags and accessories. Wu debuted his first ever handbag and accessories last season, launching the Miss Wu bag, which gained immediate critical acclaim. As a nod to the traditional, ladylike frame bag, Wu described the design of the Miss Wu as possessing “an air of old world glamour but with updated, ease of a modern woman.”

For pre-fall, Wu decided to stretch Miss Wu's influence by adding a Miss Wu large and a Miss Wu mini. The designer also added a face to the name, choosing a cute little owl as the character called Miss Wu. Wu told Style.com that the added sizes will be a permanent change, stating, "Every single collection will now have all three sizes of the bag in the classic color way, which is nude and black, and then in the colors of the season."

For pre-fall, the seasonal colors will include a deep scarlet, and a gray flannel—Wu's favorite. “I thought it was nice to do for pre-fall,” he said. “It’s a very men’s-y fabric—back-to-school, but elevating it. And I’m sort of obsessed with gray flannel, because I love the Geoffrey Beene eighties Gray Flannel packaging.”
The Miss Wu mini is especially garnering attention, as it will also come in a luxury version made out of python and rose gold. “I like that this is evening material and we used it for day,” Wu said of the high end material and casual silhouette. Wu plays with this concept more through his evening-wear envelope clutch that comes in the more daytime-appropriate gray flannel.
