That Phoebe Philo is one busy woman! While preparing a post on the design mastermind behind Celine's latest project—a capsule collection of pants—I realized she beat out fellow Brit designers just last night to be awarded the prestigious Designer of the Year honor at the British Fashion Awards. Other reputable designers nominated for the award included Christopher Kane and Erdem Moralioglu, but Philo emerged victorious for Celine.

Back to her capsule collection, when she's not winning the highest honors of the British fashion ranks, Philo has been working tirelessly to create what she's called, Five Perfect Trousers for the Celine label. Aptly named, the collection consists of five versatile pieces, each of which Philo refers to as, "building blocks" of the Céline wardrobe. The styles run the gamut from skinny to boot cut, tapered to wide-leg and reflect Celine's signature sense of sleek simplicity. The purpose of the collection, Celine claims, is to end every head-scratching trouser debacle that may arise when getting dressed in the morning.

"There is no shortcut to making an excellent pair of trousers, which is what makes them so rare," Céline said in a statement regarding the Five Perfect Trousers. "It takes a commitment to technique, a deep knowledge of tailoring and understanding of how to elongate differing female body-alignments. Then, there is the critical element: the fashion informed judgement which makes a proportion right, so it synchs effortlessly with a shoe, a top, a jacket for today." And who else would you trust with that level of commitment and that depth of knowledge than Philo herself? After all, she now has the accolades to prove it.
