Pool Slides and Rubber Sandals for Summer: Splurge or Steal?

Luckily, when it comes to footwear for summer, comfort is in style. That’s good news for women over 50. A basic pool slide sandal in PVC or rubber is a must for every woman’s wardrobe for the beach or pool, or for sporty casual looks to wear on the street. Top designers are embracing pool slides and all have put their own spin on a basic Birkenstock silhouette. But should you splurge on  pool slides and rubber sandals for summer, or find a pair for a steal?

Pool Slides Sandals for Women: Splurge or Steal?

I took a look at these fun and extravagant designer sandals. It’s amazing how a basic pool slide sandal seems to have turned into a competition by designers to see who can charge the most! But seriously, you do get what you pay for, including comfort, design and obviously, you pay for their logo.

How to Wear Pool Slides

1. Wear them to the pool! Or wear them at the beach. They actually serve a purpose and protect your feet from hot pavement or sand. They will look fabulous with your swimsuit or beach coverups.

2. Wear them on the street. Slip on a pair with your jeans, wide leg pants and skirts with a simple top or t-shirt. Wear them the same way you would wear a pair of Birkenstocks or similar leather slide sandals. Pool slides are mostly for casual outfits but you can try them with a business pant suit for a more sporty look.

3. Wear them to work out. Pool slides are great shower shoes at the gym, and are perfect to slide on and off for a yoga class.

4. Try different colors and styles. Pool slides come in a huge variety of styles including bright colors, platforms, embellishments and prints and patterns. They are an easy way to change up your wardrobe, and if you do invest in a not too trendy but basic designer pair you will be able to wear them for years to come.

If you’re like me, I would rather find a less expensive pair that looks similar to designer pool slides. So I put together this list of some of the best pool slides and rubber sandals for summer.

Basic Black Logo Pool Slide Sandals

You could pay $295 for a pair of Givenchy Logo Slide Sandals, but why not go for a more minimalist logo like Adidas’ three stripes? These Adidas Adilette Comfort Sport Slide have a similar silhouette for only $28.

Blush Buckle Pool Slides

Blush Buckle Pool Slides

Try a pair of puffed up Birkenstock buckle style pool sides in a neutral blush like these Alexander McQueen Rubber Exaggerated-sole Sandals for $350. They are cool and super-stylish, but you can save $320 and get these Cushionaire Women’s Fame recovery cloud slide with +Comfort for only $30 from Amazon.

Silver Sparkle Pool Slides

Of course Gucci had to come up with an over-the-top and pool slide in sparking silver. These Gucci Miami rubber platform slides have all the bells and whistles including their double G logo for $650. To get a somewhat similar look and feel (at a glance) try these Crocs Crush Glitter Sandals for only $55. But please, do not plug any of those plastic things into the perforated holes!

Embellished Pool Slides

Embellished Pool Slides

I adore these Jimmy Choo Fitz Embellished Pool Slides. The pearls are perfectly placed and the strap is adjustable. These are worth their $350 price tag, but you can save quite a bit of cash with these Skechers Cali Pop Ups-Rocker Glam slldes in black with studs and rhinestones for $40.

Platform Slide Sandals

Bight Colored Platform Slide Sandals

If you want to pay too much, look to Balenciaga! Their Mono logo-embossed rubber platform slides for $495 have a distinctive silhouette and come in amazing Popsicle colors as well as black and nude. But sans the logo (which many women do not want to sport since their advertising controversy) you can get these Nine West Pool Platform Slide Sandals in a variety of colors for only $45 a pair.

Puffy Pool Slides

You can purchase these Moncler Slyder appliquéd rubber slides for $545 before they sell out! Yes, there was a run on them even at that price. Or you can pick up these less exciting Cushionaire Women’s Feather recovery slide sandals in black for only $25 only I cannot guarantee their quality!

Clear and Transparent Slides

Clear and Transparent Slides

Go icy cool with these clear Givenchy Logo-print rubber slides, now on sale for $237. But you can get another designer-embossed slide for a lot less. These transparent Coach Ulyssa Slides are only $89. They are also available in a wide variety of transparent and hombre colors.

Green Terry Slides

Green Terry Slides

These Bottega Veneta Terry slides for $600 may not be waterproof, but I had to include them when I came across these crazy knock-off Keleimusi Womens Towel Fabric Slipper Slide Sandals for $33! Designer brands know that imitation is the best form of flattery.
