I love a weekend away at the beach, but oddly the packing is a nightmare! I literally can’t stand it. You have to pack so many items “just in case.” Are the evenings cold? You need a light sweater. Are you going out for dinner? You need a cute dress. Then the swimsuits and coverups and the clothes to change in to after the beach? When I see other articles or posts with a bikini, a dress you can use as a cover up and to wear out and, with a hat, sunglasses and a pair of sandals, I say bullshit. Here is what I packed for a 2 night, 3 day trip to the beach. Of course I came home with some clean, never touched clothes, but I was prepared!
Like many women, I over-pack. Why I need 3 black t-shirts I’ll never understand either.
3 Black Cotton Old Navy t-shirts, $14/each (they make you look thinner than white). I wore one.
Old Navy chambray top, no longer available, but this Old Navy Embroidered Chambray Top is similar, $18
Striped off-the-shoulder-top, no longer available , but this Tommy Hilfiger Striped Off-The-Shoulder Top, is similar, $39.99 (I didn’t wear this)
Old Navy Printed Everyday Twill Shorts, now $9.97 (wore these with the black t-shirt)
Old Navy Black Everyday Twill Shorts, now $9.97 (wore with the chambray top)
Theory ‘Wehnday’ Khaki Chino Shorts, now $128.98 (never wore these)
Old Navy Beachy-Linen Romper, $29.97 (wore on the drive to the beach)
McGuire Marino Denim Pencil Skirt, $208 (never wore this)
My patterned bathing suit is no longer available but here is my black one; La Blanca Cross Back One-Piece Swimsuit, $119
My beach coverups are no longer available, this one is similar; La Blanca ‘Global’ Beaded Cover-Up Tunic, $99
Melissa Harmonic + Alexandre Herchcovitch Sandals, now $54 (the perfect beach sandals)
Vince Solana Platform Slide Sandals, Now $175 (didn’t wear these this trip)
I’m of the belief you can never have too much sunscreen so I over pack these as well, but I’d rather be safe than sorry. I have one for the kids (which I use on myself), a face and lip protection and even sun-protection for my colored hair. My straw hat is not shown because it is close to being garbage bound. I always have cold water (that was in a cooler) and a KIND bar just in case I get hangry. Oh and a good beach read is a MUST. I only read 8 pages, but this book is perfect mindless beach reading. It’s like watching Bravo TV in book form.
My ASOS tote is no longer available
Dior So-Real Sunglasses, $620 (I’m not going to lie, I also pack a $10 pair for the beach in case I break them!)
KIND Bars, Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt, Gluten Free, $11.99 for 12
