If you love a great pair of knee boots (and missed them when it seems that everything was either ankle-height or way over the knee), then you are in luck this season. Tall boots that hit right at the knee are everywhere now, and they look fresh with skirts, dresses and straight or slim cut pants.
Knee Boots: Best Styles For Fall/Winter 2024
Before you un-retire your riding boots or moto boots from seasons past, keep in mind that there are a few details to consider. For instance, the current crop of knee high boots tend to have pointier or almond toes for dressy options, while casual styles tend to have a squared off toe. And there’s no small amount of Western-inspired details if cowboy boots are your thing.
Let’s get to the boots! Here are some of our favorite knee boot styles for fall/winter 2024.

Classic Black Knee Boots
We always need a great pair of workhorse black boots in our wardrobes, and this season’s version has a narrower toe and heel (check out these options from Vince Camuto and Naturalizer), which looks beautifully streamlined with skirts and dresses.
Lace-Up Knee Boots
If you’ll never give up your Docs but want to also try something more refined, check out the lace-up knee boots available this season. This lug sole pair from Theory is a great example that has all the attitude but in a slimmer package. And you don’t have to lace them up because they slip on.
Riding Boots
If you still love a traditional riding boot, opting for a deep chocolate brown version like these Sam Edelmans will ensure you are on trend. Plus the color just looks luxurious.
Western-Inspired
Cowboy boots can be tough to pull off, especially if you are nowhere near the actual country. However, a western silhouette works anywhere, even in the most cosmopolitan locations. Try these taupe suede boots from Anthropologie that would look great with stonewash denim as well as city slicker black if you want to experiment with this trend.
Oxblood Leather Knee Boots
Step away from the neutrals a bit with an oxblood or burgundy boot this fall. A style like these faux croc knee boots from Sam Edelman works with black, denim, and various shades of brown, cream, and even gray easily — you might be surprised by how much you wear them!
Square Toe Knee Boots
Perhaps one of the easiest ways to update your look for fall and winter 2024 is to swap your round toe boots for something that’s squared off, like this simple pair from Charles by Charles David.
Pointed Toe
Pointy toes aren’t for everyone, but if you love them you are in luck since there are pointed toe knee boots available at all price points. Dip your toe in the trend (see what we did there) with this elegant pair from Schutz that let the silhouette take center stage.
