I am the girl who’s always asking, “Do I have lipstick on my teeth?” So I decided to get to the bottom of it to find out how to wear red lipstick so it stays on your lips. I went straight to the source actually. Meet Ramy, known as the “Willy Wonka” of the beauty world, Ramy strives to bring innovative formulas and products to the market that did not previously exist. The first eye, cheek and lip formula in one (Face Gloss) is an example of a product conceived first by Ramy, as well as silicone based liquid to powder formulas.
I recently had the pleasure of meeting Ramy in person at the very first Cancer Wellness Expo which took place on September 29th at Donna Karan’s Urban Zen in NYC. It was an incredible day of education for breast cancer patients to gather, learn and connect with one another. I knew that I was going to be writing a red lip story, and I couldn’t hold back from asking Ramy just how to keep the lipstick off of my teeth.
How To Wear Red Lipstick
Tips For Keeping Red Lipstick on Your Lips
Truth be told, there really are no magic tricks. He suggested the “finger trick” (stick your pointer finger in your mouth after you apply our lips, purse your lips around it and then pull it out. That lipstick on your finger was going to be on your teeth) which is probably the best preventative measure. Otherwise, the good old tissue blotting technique will work just as well. And since I was on the topic with him, I figured I’d ask him how to get the perfect red lip. Check out the video. We are like BFF’s now, we had so much fun!
Another tip is to apply a little concealer around the border of your mouth. If you are over 40 make sure to exfoliate your lips (we love Sara Happ Lip Scrub) on the regular. Just be sure to be very precise when applying and don’t use liner (if it doesn’t match perfectly it will show). Also be sure to make the lips your focal point and keep your eye makeup soft. You don’t want big eyes and bog lips at the same time or you will look older than you are.
There are so many fabulous shades of red out there this season. And for my next career, I want to be the one who comes up with lipstick color names. It would be so much fun!
