Spring Color Trend Alert: How to Wear Alexandrite Teal This Season

In my neck of the woods, there has been a hint of spring in the air. We’ve been seeing milder temps and even though it may be temporary, I’ve locked into the idea of warmer weather. As we continue to highlight spring trends, I want to get another spring color trend on the books. This unexpected spring color trendAlexandrite teal — offers a sophisticated alternative to traditional pastels and florals for 2026.

Pantone’s Alexandrite teal isn’t what you would typically think of when you think of spring colors, as this deep blue-green shade isn’t the bright, airy, breezy hue most associate with the season. But I love the idea of this rich and bold color for the warmer weather months. If you’re not into typical pastels or florals, this is a beautiful option to bring into your wardrobe for spring. Let’s explore some ways to incorporate this color into your closet.

How to Wear Alexandrite Teal Tops

Choosing a top is always a safe option to wear with your go-to or newly minted denim jeans. You can start with a cotton pointelle sweater. The basic silhouette will fit seamlessly into anyone’s wardrobe. Everyone needs a simple crewneck sweater as a closet staple, so trying one in Alexandrite teal will keep you on track with spring color trends.

I love a basic top, but I also like something with a little more detail and design, so I found a cowl-neck T-shirt that works just as well as any basic you may already have. It still has simple elements, but the asymmetrical cut makes it feel a little more dressed up. I’d wear this with satin wide-leg pants, bootcut jeans, or a midi-length pleated skirt.

Finally, if you prefer prints, you can try a satin bow-back halter top. I like that the deep colors of this blouse will really pop against different skin tones, and the bow in the back offers a beautiful feminine detail that offsets the deep, moody print.

How to Wear Alexandrite Dresses and Skirts

I’ve mentioned many times in my posts that I’m not a big skirt-or-dress gal, but it’s almost imperative to get at least one of each for spring. I’ve been trying to expand my collection and wear them more, so I found a Vince satin skirt that could easily become a closet staple. It would be an investment piece, but one worth making since it feels timeless regardless of the trendy color.

One skirt style I’ve been embracing is the pleated midi. I found a chiffon option in Alexandrite teal that feels perfect for spring. I would pair this with a bold color like a fuchsia pink top and metallic or brown leather sandals. This is another piece you’ll get multiple wears out of if you choose to invest in it.

You know that I love a pop of color in my accessories and shoes, so here are a few options if you want to explore the Alexandrite teal trend that way.  I would be remiss if I didn’t highlight a sneaker option. It’s no secret that sneakers have become my staple shoe for most occasions, so I was jazzed when I found Adidas OG Sambas in this beautiful, rich teal color. I’ve never seen this shade in a sneaker before and instantly fell in love.

If you prefer a handbag, consider a  crossbody bag in rich suede teal. Bag silhouettes continue to evolve, but I always love a crossbody for easy, everyday wear. This one features an abstract tulip shape and contrast stitching — a beautiful option if you want to elevate your daily bag.

Finally, I don’t often touch on hair accessories, but when I found a velvet twist headband, I knew I had to include it. It’s fun, unique, and a bit of a ’90s throwback — perfect for salvaging a bad hair day with little effort.

Expert Style Tips

  • One thing I love about Alexandrite teal is that jewelry options can be endless. You can pair it with silver or gold accessories, or go outside the box with tiger’s eye or colorful gemstone jewelry to really make a statement.
  • Treat this color as a neutral. You can pair most shades with Alexandrite teal — try a bold mix with sunshine yellow or bright purple, keep it low-key with tan, ivory, or black, or mix it with prints like polka dots, animal prints, or stripes.
  • Lean into the luxury. This rich, deep color already feels elevated, so go a step further and choose pieces in satin, silk, suede, or leather to enhance the overall look.

If you’re looking for a fresh way to update your wardrobe this season, Alexandrite teal may be the most wearable spring color trend to try right now.
