FX Launches American Horror Story Costume Contest

American Horror Story
Do you love American Horror Story as much as I do? OK, I have yet to watch Asylum because the first episode scared the pants off me, but the other two seasons I did not miss. The fourth installment, Freak Show, returns to FX on October 8th and is already drawing fevered exclamations from its legion of fans eager to see what the look of the new season will be (I’m terrified). Helping to realize Ryan Murphy’s vision of a 1950s sideshow is costume designer Lou Eyrich, who was also responsible for the costumes in Asylum and Coven.
So…FX has just launched a ghoulish costume contest. They’re calling for sketches and mood board submissions on AHSDesignContest.com. To help determine a winner, American Horror Story has assembled a panel of experts: Costume designer Lou Eyrich, fashion designer Christian Siriano and the show’s producer, Stephanie Gibbons.
The most horrifying costume submission will receive a $5,000 prize and will see their sketches realized on a model in a high-fashion/high-horror photoshoot. Their work will also be seen on the American Horror Story website and will be tweeted out by the three judges. Winners also have the opportunity to fly out and meet Lou Eyrich in person. The contest is open from today until October 8th, the date of the show’s premiere, and the winner will be announced shortly thereafter.
If you are a fashion designer or just someone with really warped design ideas…go for it! You never know.
